Information Retrieval product & services are becoming more and more popular,   offering help to a full spectrum of businesses with information storage and document retrieval, while one of the pain point within ING, is there exist a high volume of “untrusted data”, which has been a hassle, and high cost for many ING domain experts to be able process them automatically. For this reason, our current mission is to formalize and structure the existing knowledge within ING to enable reuse of domain knowledge together with systematic reasoning and AI by creating tangible R&D driven products and services.

You have a strong background as an NLP data scientist, and you work in close collaboration with the software engineer and data scientist, in order to design and build systems that include NLP, advance Q&A systems, information retrieval and machine learning.

What we are looking for in a senior Data scientist for the IR Team:

Minimum Qualifications:

• master’s degree in AI, Software engineering, Computer Science or relevant field
• In depth knowledge of NLP, Information Retrieval and machine learning
• In depth knowledge of SOTA deep learning NLP models, experience applying Natural Language Processing models in an industrial setting is a big plus
• Experience with at least one NLP framework such as: OpenNMT, AllenNLP, OpenNLP, NLTK, Stanford CoreNLP, spaCy or similar.
• Experience with at least one modern language Python, Java

Preferred Qualification:

• PhD degree in AI, Software engineering, Computer Science or relevant field
• You have experience in managing/coaching (junior) data scientists, and you have at least 4 years’ experience working as a data scientist
• Having a track record in publishing academic papers
• Experience with Elastic search and learning to rank is a plus
• Fluent in English (verbal and written) and willing to learn Dutch
• Good communication skills
  Experience in Agile / scrum
