ING is looking for a passionate NFR Risk officer with a focus on IT Risk
Think Forward! Our purpose is to empower people to stay a step ahead in life and in business. We are an industry recognized strong brand with positive recognition from customers in many countries, strong financial position, omni-channel distribution strategy and international network. If you want to work at a place with lots of freedom to innovate, where we believe that you can live by the Agile manifesto without jeopardizing the necessary continuity, compliance and QA measures, where we are committed to deliver stable and secure services to end users, and where we have a 'no nonsense' getting-things done mentality, please read on!
As a Non-Financial Risk Officer you will make sure that the teams working within Wholesale Banking Advanced Analytics (WBAA) address risks in the right way, at the right time. Your main interest and expertise lies with IT Risk including addressing the threats and vulnerabilities that come with using or developing technologies and finding new ways to adhere to ING’s IT risk and control compliance requirements. You are eager to build your IT risk knowledge working together with a team of experienced risk professionals as well as skilled data engineers and data scientists.
You want to promote a risk culture and work on improving the way in which WBAA addresses risks. This includes finding ways to scale yourself so teams can work as independently as possible on their (IT) risk related tasks. You have a critical mind, can take other risk area’s into consideration and are able to engage with and add value to the wider risk community by your innovative approach.
You will be part of a small team (‘squad’) of 1st line NFR professionals and enjoy a creative atmosphere where trying things out is encouraged.
A day in the life of a Non-Financial Risk officer
As a NFR officer your first priority is to make sure ( IT) risks are managed appropriately by the teams in WBAA. This happens by following the development phases of initiatives and addressing key risks for each phase. You are sensitive towards the creative process and growth of new solutions. You are also a key contact between the project and 2nd line. For projects you make sure teams are aware, grow in risk maturity and deliver on their risks with the right prioritization. For second-line you make sure the right persons are engaged in the project reviews and actively support and lead discussions on risk solutions, risk acceptances or policy waivers. You make the teams’ risk journey as frictionless as possible.
You also focus on the bigger picture: can I build tools to make the IT risk processes more efficient for the projects? Or does existing guidance have to change in order for our teams to function? You speak your mind and become a thought leader within the bank on (IT) risk related topics. You want to have an impact beyond the operational day-to-day tasks.
That’s why you wake up to go to work. On Monday morning, you have a meeting with your NFR squad in which you share your priorities for the week and reflect on the tasks of the previous week. Luckily, your colleagues are always ready to provide answers to your questions or step into a meeting with you to help out. After this squad meeting, you set out to review an IT risk acceptance drafted by a WBAA project. After making a few changes, you send it back to the team’s Product Owner to share with our IRM 2nd line contact. You make a note to update the WBAA Confluence page with an example of this risk acceptance, as you believe more teams would benefit from the guidance. You then have a meeting on a Risk-Control Self-Assessment of another project, where you share a template of the RCSA and discuss the approach for completing the document with the team. After lunch, you review a document drafted by one of your risk colleagues on the US Nexus. The document serves to inform the Tribe’s management of the impact of this topic on their strategy around public clouds. You talk to an experienced data and security engineer about their experiences with encryption and key management in Azure and add their input to the document. Their knowledge and skills saved you some time on reading up on this yourself, the benefit of working with highly skilled professionals! You also include your own vision in the document, because you know management is interested in your opinion about this (and other) topic(s).
