Beschrijving

  • Excited to grow your career?

At ING we value our talented employees and strive to help grow our employees before recruiting new talent to our open positions. If you think this position is right for you, we encourage you to apply!

Our people make all the difference to our success!

ING is looking for IT Chapter Leads in Leeuwarden in the Customer Data Domain.

Being a leader and lead engineer in one of our Customer Data chapters

Think Forward! Banking has changed dramatically over the past years. With ING’s Think Forward Strategy we are creating a differentiating customer experience. Customer communication and technology are key underlying pillars to that strategy; we are becoming a tech company with a banking license as our CEO Ralph Hamers likes to say.

Within the Customer Data area you are part of an international team of passionate and talented DevOps Engineers. You will be working for Chief Information Office Netherlands (CIO) in the Tribe Customer Information Management (CIM). This Tribe manages the customer data and enables both the customer and our employees to work with this data in an accessible and easy way.

We are a key area within the ING Unite program, making sure our Belgian and Dutch customers have access to their data and are able to update this data throughout a variety of channels. To make this possible we build on stacks that consist of Java API’s, TIBCO services and JavaScript Front-Ends. Architecture wise we are moving into a micro services world and away from TIBCO.

    Your job

As a chapter lead, you are responsible for managing and inspiring a chapter of 8-12 DevOps engineers. Your main task is to enable your engineers to grow their mastery and improve themselves every day. The other half of your time you are a lead engineer that sets the example, shares knowledge, drives innovation, voices opinions and deliver as a member of a squad.

As a DevOps engineer you will be working in a squad of about 7 engineers and customer journey experts. Each squad has its own purpose, works autonomous and delivers value for our customers.

What you build is what you operate! You will see your own code working in production and as a team will solve any issues that occur. Your activities start at analysis and end at operations. As such you are a true DevOps engineer!

We are looking for chapter leads for our Stack and Services chapter.

Current topics for the Stack chapters are:

    • Docker
    • Linux
    • Ansible tower
    • openShift
    • Continous Delivery, Deployment and Integration
    • Operational control
    • Tibco (nice to have)

The Services chapters deal with subjects like:

    • Java REST API
    • Tibco services
    • Kafka
    • Jenkins
    • Continuous Delivery, Deployment and Integration

In addition you are also part of the leadership team of our IT Area. Together with the IT Area Lead and other Chapter Leads we develop our vision and execute our strategy to inspire our engineers to grow and drive technological innovation.

Managing your chapter means actively working on the development of your engineers through continuous on-the-job coaching, 1:1 conversations, creating a development plan and monitoring it together. Finding the true purpose of your engineers and enabling them to grow in what they are passionate about and excel in to find that win-win situation for the engineer and ING.

      Your work environment

ING works in multi-disciplinary teams based on Agile and DevOps principles. Scrum is our way of work, but if the situation requires it we are open to other ways (e.g. Kanban) as long as it is agile. (Don’t do agile, be agile)

ING adopted the ‘Spotify’ model which means that you are part of a matrix organization. You work in your squad but are also part of a chapter, an expertise focused group that shares knowledge and creates and governs standards. In addition there are guilds and communities where you can contribute and learn.

      Who are you?

    • You love to inspire other people to grow
    • You are a motivated engineer who likes to work in a team on complex solutions.
    • Although you are an experienced engineer, you continuously want to grow your personal skills as an engineer and as a leader.
    • Keep doing things smarter is in your DNA; ‘Automate… Everything!’
    • You have a mentality that aligns with our culture where you ‘Take it on and make it happen’. You naturally behave towards our values and you take the banker's oath, like all ING employees.
    • You take ownership
    • You are an engineer that gives other engineers a lot of energy!

You recognize yourself in the following profile:

Minimum of 1-2 years experience in leading and coaching fellow engineers in a hierarchical or project role. Minimum of 5 years experience as a DevOps engineer in similar environments.

      Selection Proces

Our selection process consists of the following steps:

    • An interview with a Chapter Lead and an Engineer
    • An interview with a business Product Area Lead or Tribe Lead and your IT Area Lead
    • An interview with another IT Area Lead and a HR employee

      We offer you

    • A salary matching scale 11-12 based on experience and expertise
    • A 36 to 40 hour work week
    • 13th month
    • Your workplace will be Leeuwarden ( but you have to be prepared to travel ad-hoc to Amsterdam and Brussels if needed )
    • Ample opportunities for development: visits to IT seminars and events
    • An enthusiastic team in a welcoming environment
