Development Engineer in Amsterdam

At InsightOut, we believe that to be a great engineer deep technical skills are not enough, but you also need an open mind and a focus on creating win-win solutions. This makes the job two-fold:

• A first part is the implementation work of the technical solution, from the design to the final validation in the back and front end.
• The second part is interacting with other teams to make sure the chosen solutions is efficient and in the interest of the final customer.

To achieve this, you get help from your Chapter Lead to get proper training and coaching. Because he is also a developer, he can understand your pain points and help you solve them technically and socially. Reaching him is easy, since he is sitting only a few desks away.

As an engineer in our 8 people squad, you are responsible for maintaining and implementing the roadmap of all the applications and tools used to support bookkeeping at ING, as well as request for corporate credit cards.

Technical experience/capabilities

• At least three years’ experience with object-oriented programming languages, in the front or the back end. However, you will have to do both as part of the team.
• Experience in continuous testing environments
• Strong analytical skills

• English speaking and writing skills – must have!
• Experience of the ING environment would be a plus.

Our stack

• The back-end is fully written in Java 8 (functional style)
• Cucumber for integration and acceptance tests
• The front-end is fully implemented in Angular 1.7
• We use Gitlab, Jenkins and Nolio

Work environment

The squad operates in a SCRUM environment, with two-week sprints. Our software can be deployed to TEST and ACCEPTANCE at any moment, and we usually create a new version every sprint. Deployment to production requires additional tests but can be achieved on every sprint too.

The squad is composed of a mix of a product owner and technical members, in order to have a complete overview of our products. You will part of a technical team composed of an OPSer, and frontend as well as back-end focused engineers. The roadmap is handled by our product owner and you will be working closely with him to make sure to keep focused on our customers.
