WHAT you’ll be doing:
This is a rare opportunity to lead a team of talented engineers who are building next-generation payments experiences for millions of daily customers and changing how people pay.
In this new Leadership role you will be tasked with mentoring, developing and growing a team of world class software engineers to design and build experiences that are highly reliable and used by millions of people on a daily basis. Our bar for engineering quality is high, with planning being transparent using an , automated testing, code reviews, build tooling and rollout best practices being things all our Amsterdam teams follow and improve - as well as . Engineering culture does not improve just by chance here: we have dedicated developer experience, platform and infrastructure teams who focus on improving developer tooling and velocity, as well as systems reliability.
Alongside designers, UX researchers and Product experts you will work collaboratively with your talented team, to build new, innovative and scalable solutions that delight people. Testing ideas and thinking, challenging your team, and of course yourself, you will drive and execute ideas to make our products come to life. Our product culture is heavily data driven, people and teams being encouraged to bring ideas and challenge existing ones, using data as a shared language.
No two days will be the same in this challenging role, so your ability to be flexible in your work approach and deal with shifting priorities will be key to your success.
You will be empowered to achieve results, and encouraged to be autonomous. But don’t worry - you won’t be going on this journey alone! You will be supported by our experienced team in San Fran as well as surrounded by a team of 90+ Engineering gurus based here in Amsterdam with 6+ peer engineering managers and 90+ engineering gurus, as well as teams in the Bay Area, who make up our unique inclusive and supportive technology community.
WHAT you’ll need:
We are looking for an experienced Technology Leader who has built and led world class technical teams.
All of our leaders are hands-on with coding and architecture so we will expect you to be technically savvy having a proven track record of working with large-scale distributed systems (multi-tier architectures, application security, monitoring and storage systems) as well as good programming skills in one of C++/Java, Javascript, Python or Go, and an ability to pick up new ones.
You will enjoy being hands on but also capable of big picture. You will take pride in your ability to both nurture and grow high performing teams. And your results focused approach will enable us to get results at scale and pace
