What are we looking for?

Within ING Group Services we are looking for an Chapter Lead of an IT Credit Risk Dev team who develop and maintain ING’s global Credit Risk Platform.

Your role

As a Chapter Lead you are an IT team lead: you are a senior IT engineer who leads the team (Chapter). Partly you spend your time on delivering work as a senior IT engineer, and partly you spend your time as hierarchical line manager to manage the DEV engineers in your chapter. Craftsmanship is one of your key focus areas; you transfer your knowledge to the team members, and motivate all kinds of knowledge transfer between team members and facilitate their personal growth.

Agile way of working

The BusDevOps squads combine the expertise of Business Analysts, DEV and OPS engineers and are self-managing, autonomous units with end-to-end responsibility to deliver and support applications to meet the needs of the stakeholders and end users. They work according to Agile Scrum, which means that work is sliced in stories and planned via sprints, and as a team take responsibility to deliver value according to sprint planning. Applications and technologies

The members of the Credit Risk Dev chapter are active in different squads in the COO Risk and Finance (COORF) domain and are working in an agile way together with COORF colleagues in BusDevOps teams. This area is going through a time of many developments and changes, making it a dynamic area in which there is lots of opportunity to learn, grow and excel.

The DEV engineers in the Credit Risk Dev chapter develop and support all applications part of the Vortex Credit Risk System. The teams are specialized in SQL (Sybase ASE, Sybase IQ, Oracle), Java, Perl and Linux

Key responsibilities

  • Identify and fulfil IT knowledge gaps within your chapter ensuring that the chapter is qualitatively properly staffed
  • Coach your DEV engineers on individual level, manage on chapter level
  • Continuously work on skills improvements, expertise and personal growth of your DEV engineers. Encourage quality and ownership for work delivered via sprints, set standards
  • Propagate a culture to deliver quality and work according to the agile way of working
  • Leading role in processes and decisions which are strategic for the chapter, such as technology selection, offshore strategies
  • Align with IT vendors, ING Infra departments and the end users at the ING departments
  • Line management tasks such as hiring new employees, assess performance of current employees
  • Together with your Engineers: end-responsible for keeping your IT environment up and running, healthy, secure, documented, and standardized where possible
  • Together with the Product Owners of the squads and the other Chapter Leads in the Tribe you balance team development, delivery and timelines
  • MT member.

  • Capable to keep oversight of complex processes in a constantly changing environment, and capable to slice work into steps and work accordingly
  • You can explain complex matters in a simple way
  • Hands-on and pro-active attitude
  • Analytical: able to peel down technical problems, and doing so, you develop new insights
  • Quick learner
  • Team player
  • Master or Bachelor degree
  • Fluent in English
  • You have experience in at least a couple of the below areas, and willing to learn about the rest:
    • Solution architecture
    • Data processing, ETL
    • Datawarehouses, datamarts, BI
    • (Large) Application management, operations, maintenance and support (Linux, Oracle, Citrix)
    • CDaaS deployment processes
    • IT security (e.g. SOX/key control testing, ING Operation Control Dashboard)
    • An Agile/Scrum way of working (e.g experienced, CSPO/SM certified)
