As Senior Product Manager / Director Advanced Analytics you will be tasked with leading our efforts in originating and building data-driven algorithmic products in selected value spaces of ING Wholesale Banking. This is an entrepreneurial role with a global mandate in an innovative team that is scaling up internationally.

What we expect from you

• Manage Advanced Analytics products so that they generate significant value for the customer and for ING, moving them efficiently through the ING innovation stages
• In earlier product stages, work with a small squad of Data Scientists, UXers, and/or Engineers to discover the potential of a product, hone in on the user/customer problem (user research), and manage validation and prototyping exercises
• In later product stages, you are responsible for the go-to-market approach and for potential business models
• Lead multi-disciplinary squads to build products and/or lead product management in a larger  squad with complex commercial and/or organizational challenges
• Lead the structured exploration and ideation of new Advanced Analytics products
• Ability to develop structured product concepts from abstract ideas, and to develop effective approaches to exploration and prototyping (including methods typically applied in strategy consulting such as defining hypotheses, issue trees, project planning, storytelling, results presentation etc.)
• Manage stakeholders up to very senior level, e.g. ING Innovation Fund, senior business sponsors
• Coach and guide junior Product Managers
• Scan the Fintech ecosystem for partnerships that can help accelerate prototyping and product development; you are responsible for selecting the right partner etc.
• Demonstrate thought leadership on how Advanced Analytics can generate value within Wholesale Banking at relevant conferences and events, both internally and externally
• Proactive contributor to knowledge sharing within Product Manager Chapter and the broader department/ING
• Develop financial business cases, from early and indicative opportunity sizing to, at later product stages, full simulations of product financials
• Good understanding of innovation and product management methodologies such as Lean, Design Sprints
• Solid knowledge of and enthusiasm for advanced analytics and technology within the financial services sector, including a good understanding of statistics as well as a basic understanding of common data science methods such as logistic regression, random forest and neural networks
• 8+ years of relevant work experience within corporate banking, consulting and/or advanced analytics
• University level education with a Master degree; Top MBA holders are encouraged to apply
• Written and spoken fluency in English (Dutch is not required)

What could your day look like?

Any given day will be different, but one of them might look like this:

Start off the day with a run through emails with potential ideas and requests to meet from employees, clients, vendors and potential Fintech partners, which you have to prioritize and filter. Then, lead the daily stand-up of your prototyping squad who are developing an AI-enabled news analytics app. You go for lunch with the hot AI Fintech that is using voice data to predict trading behavior, who you spotted coming out of a Startup Accelerator. Afterwards you discuss a colleague’s analysis of how to best size an opportunity and set metrics to measure progress on a particular prototyping process. Later in the day you make your way to an international conference where you are speaking about our latest developments in AI-powered bond trading products. You stay for some drinks at the conference… or you call it a day and spend some quality private time to keep a healthy balance between focus, rest and other things.

What department?

Wholesale Banking Advanced Analytics (WBAA) has the purpose to build algorithmic data-driven products that benefit ING’s clients and the bank. With a team of about 100 engineers, data scientists, UXers and product managers, WBAA has proven its ability to deliver value through “lighthouse” products and a number of products co-developed with Fintechs. The team has the clear mandate to grow significantly in the next years whilst expanding its international footprint.
