We develop the digital bank of the future

As part of the development towards a ‘Next Generation Digital Banking Platform’, ING is renewing the data management capabilities globally. Early 2019, the tribe Data Management realised, as part of the ‘Unite programme’, an integrated data management platform for the Dutch and Belgian organisations: the ‘Data Lake’. Good governance of this platform is crucial. Together with data owners and data stewards in the organisation, we ensure that data is defined, can be easily exchanged, the data quality is monitored, and the data lake is set up according to security and privacy standards.

We provide the data to important users like Finance, Risk, Analytics, and ING Group. The cross-border ‘building block’ tribe Data Management fulfills a crucial role for all tribes in the Netherlands and Belgium. The tribe operates from three countries, with locations in Amsterdam (NL), Brussels (BE), and Bucharest (RO). The people in our squads come from many different cultural backgrounds.

For one of our ‘Platform’ squads, we are looking for an enthusiastic Product Owner with knowledge and experience in platform management. This squad has a cross-border (Belgium and The Netherlands) responsibility to deliver and maintain the platform for the Unite data lake to enable the tribe Data Management to meet the demand for the onboarding of data.

Your role:

• You define the requirements for the platform with architects and stakeholders from business and IT. You develop a product vision together with your squad. You assess the feasibility of the proposed solutions. You evaluate the user experiences with the developed solutions and define proposals for improvement.
• You prioritise the backlog by defining roadmaps in ‘Quarterly Business Reviews’, by aligning in ‘Marketplaces’ with senior management and other Product Owners of the tribe, and by liaising with several departments of ING Group.
• You secure the operational performance of the assets which are delivered and maintained by your squad. You define and prioritise the operational requirements and organise with your squad the operational tasks to be completed.
• You continuously take the initiative to improve the way of work and the collaboration within your squad. You frequently align with the Tribe Lead, Product Area Leads, and IT Area Lead, as well as (Chief) Product Owners, Chapter Leads, and Agile Coaches.
• You work in close collaboration with the other platform squads which are focussed on data ingestion and migration.

Your profile:

• Experience in an Agile way of working as a Product Owner or as a Scrum Master
• Experience in delivering and maintaining platforms
• Good experience in managing SLAs with platform consumers
• Solid technical background
• Hands-on and solution-oriented mentality
• Knowledge and experience with database solutions and data warehousing technologies
• Conceptual and analytical
• Excellent communication skills
• Proficient in English (verbal and writing)
• Enthusiastic personality, motivating the squad performance and supporting the Agile way of working in multidisciplinary teams

• Willing to frequently travel abroad (approx. 1 time per week), mainly to Brussels
• Master or Bachelor degree
• Nice to have skills:
  • IBM InfoSphere stack knowledge and experience: Data Stage, Quality Stage, Information Analyser, Information Governance Catalogue, Netezza and Oracle databases
  • Java, Linux, SQL
  • Knowledge and experience of the financial industry
