Junior IT Support Specialist

Our IT Story

Being the largest online auction platform for special objects in Europe we strive to provide staff with the IT tools, education, advice and support needed to do their best work. We use our knowledge of technology to help Catawikians build the most popular destination for special objects across the globe. Provide staff with the IT tools, education, advice and support needed to realise Catawiki company goals.

Here’s James, our Head of IT Operations

“I joined Catawiki way back in 2016 to build an IT team capable of supporting a high-growth environment. We have an incredible group of colleagues and are free from most bureaucracy that usually faces many IT teams. Having the freedom to choose the best solution for a problem is very refreshing. We have a flat and relaxed culture where people take ownership of their work and aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo.”

So what's the job

As our Junior IT Support Specialist you will ensure that your Catawiki colleagues (Catawikians!) are equipped with the relevant hardware and solve their IT support tickets. You are the first point of call for resolving problems with laptops and mobile phones as well as the wider technology infrastructure including software access management, video conferencing tools, printers, WiFi, and software licensing. You will maintain the internal IT process documentation and ensure people are able to help themselves where possible. When you reach the limits of your knowledge, you work with your IT team mates to see the problem through to a close.
You will work 5 days a week and are flexible to starting or finishing outside of usual office hours to support our SE Asia colleagues.

Your main tasks will include:

  • First-line support for our software platforms including GSuite, OneLogin, JIRA help-desk and Confluence.
  • Performing hands-on fixes at the hardware level, including installing and upgrading software, configuring operating systems and applications for Mac OS and Chrome OS.
  • Shipping and receiving hardware to Catawikians.
  • Remote diagnostics and maintenance using JAMF Pro and GSuite admin portal.
  • Maintaining the VoIP telephone system: assigning licenses and extensions, troubleshooting and liaising with suppliers as necessary.
  • Troubleshooting issues with internet connectivity, CRM and VoIP tools (We use Hubspot, and Kustomer but prior knowledge of these is not essential).
  • Liaising with hardware providers to order new technology equipment and software licenses internationally, and keeping the asset registry updated.
  • Working with our IT Support Specialists to resolve more complex adhoc issues, identifying areas for improvement, and escalating problems as necessary.

A little about you

This role would be ideal for someone wanting to make a start in their IT career. Our ideal profile would look something like this:

A proactive and versatile IT enthusiast with (or studying for) a Bachelor degree in a related field, around 1+ year of relevant work experience, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and fluency in English. We require experience with Mac OS, and knowing how to troubleshoot Chrome OS and mobile devices (Android / iOS), you will also have experience with:

  • Solving problems and always seeking the root cause of a problem.
  • Knowing where to look for solutions to IT issues using internal documentation and internet resources.
  • Collaborative working in a multicultural and international environment.
  • You are friendly whilst being assertive, outgoing, communicative and enjoy speaking with different people throughout the day
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to absorb and retain information quickly with an enthusiasm for learning.
  • Essential: Knowledge of IT support best practices and ticketing, cloud platforms, basic networking, software licensing
