Chapter Lead Dev Engineer in Amsterdam

We are currently looking for a Chapter Lead Dev Engineer for our chapter of  Software Engineers within the Tribe IT DevOps Platforms. He/She, will have the mission to embark on a journey to build and nourish an awesome Chapter. The purpose of IT DevOps Platforms Tribe is to empower engineers within Market Leaders, to build and run their IT. We want to create awesome products that will make the engineers' life within ING better.

The Chapter Lead will play a key role in the development of his chapter especially in developing the people and ensuring that their environment is favorable for software/platform delivery. 

The Chapter Lead will serve as an example and show that she/he is a true servant leader and an ambassador for the Agile way of working and the ING Orange culture which is represented as the Orange Code: Honesty, Prudency and Responsibility and also will make sure that the Engineering Culture of ING is shared in his Chapter.

Key tasks

For the content work tasks (60% of the IT Chapter Lead role) :

Develop software with different programming languages and technologies/frameworks like: Java, Angular, Node.js, JavaScript, REST, Maven, Gatling,  Kubernetes, Docker, Springboot, Gitlab.

Deploying with Azure DevOps or Ansible.

On Unix/Linux/Tomcat/Oracle

Using external tools like Kibana or Grafana, ELK

Participate in User story refinement to ensure adequate acceptance criteria

For the People Manager tasks (40% of the IT Chapter Lead role) :

Stimulates the ‘new’ culture

  • Acts as an agile role model
  • Coaches individual IT Chapter members on agile/CI- mindset and –behavior, on expertise related skills and knowledge sharing
  • Challenges IT Chapter members in their way of working and their continuous improvements

Realizes and maintains the IT maturity

  • Strengthens the organization by continuously improving the IT Chapter’s way of working/standards

Organizational Development and Employee planning

  • Identifies and stimulates the processing of organizational improvement opportunities
  • Performs the PCA (Planning, Coaching, Appraisal) cycle with all his/her internal IT Chapter members
  • Discusses IT Chapter progress in skills development and future demand with the IT (Area) Lead
  • Allocates IT Chapter members to relevant Squads
  • Ensures qualitative alignment between IT Chapter members and relevant Product Owners’ planned business value (Staffing)
  • Performs long term employability planning
  • Performs all other people management tasks, f.e. recruitment, talent management, et cetera
  • Propagates IT vision and strategy to his/her IT Chapter members in order to align goals

Knowledge sharing

  • Ensures the application of expertise specific standards (DoD)
  • Shares relevant insights and developments in his/her own expertise with his/her and other IT Chapter members

For this journey your backpack should contain

  • Bachelor diploma in Engineering
  • Experience being technical, hands-on and a people manager for technical teams for at least 2 years: Java 7+, Kubernetes/Docker, Azure
  • Experience leading, technically-challenging, cross-functional infrastructure projects from conception to end
  • CI/CD knowledge
  • Experience with large agile / scrum, scaling, continuous delivery;
  • Management 3.0 knowledge
  • Experience in international collaboration (differences in cultures and context);
  • Mastery of the English language (speaking, writing); Dutch is a plus
