The Global Know Your Customer (KYC) organisation is a new organisation within the COO domain. Its purpose is “Enabling people and organisations to use our banking services by ensuring a compliant and competitive KYC ecosystem.” Through an innovative and transformational approach, financial crimes, such as tax evasion and terrorist financing, are prevented or detected on a global scope. The Global KYC organisation consists of a Centre of Expertise, the Delivery Tribe and KYC Operations. By integrating all KYC related capabilities into one functionally steered organisation, the global implementation and standardisation of the Global KYC Digital Service is supported.

The Global KYC organisation is a 1st line department providing the ING business and functions with guidance, standardised solutions in the area of various KYC related regulations (on process, control, and digital solutions, etc.) as well as support to realize operational excellence.

The Global KYC Delivery Tribe is part of the Global KYC organisation within ING COO. You will be involved with the development of state-of-the-art solutions on socially relevant topics such as Anti-Money Laundering, Counter Terrorism Financing, Fraud, Sanctions and their global implementation across 40+ countries, affecting 36 million ING customers.

Description

As Proficient Ops Engineer, you will have a key role in ensuring that everything we do has quality, stability in and compliance mind. You are responsible for day-to-day activities that range from active involvement in the delivery pipeline, test automation, test execution for different test levels, defect management, test data management, test strategy, automated deployments and supporting the application in the production environment.

What sets you apart from the Ops Engineers is that you, with your experience, are able to improve the way of working in not only your squad but in our entire are through your proactive attitude towards defining the test strategy, standards and guidelines, by coaching other Ops Engineers and through your proactive involvement in defining the future of testing in our area. This is what drives you every day.

Key tasks

  • Improving the way we test
    • Challenge the status quo
    • Defining and improving our test vision, test strategy and standards & guidelines
    • Experimenting with new tools to improve our testing capabilities
    • Support and coaching of Ops Engineers in all squads to improve testing
    • Support and coaching the product owners and business analysts to improve the way of working, with quality in mind
  • Implementing and enforcing quality controls
    • Participate in user story refinement, ask all the “but what if” questions, propagate example mapping and ensure adequate acceptance criteria are defined (functional as well as non-functional)
    • Enforcing compliance with Definition of Read and Definition of Done
    • Full test automation of functional tests and regression tests
    • Manual testing when and where required
    • Setting up and executing performance tests
    • Supporting Disaster Recovery Tests and Security Penetration Testing
  • Monitoring the health of our application, using tools like
    • Kibana and Grafana
    • Internal Pega monitoring (AES)
  • Ensuring compliancy
    • Keep our application compliance with IT risk policies
    • Maintain access matrix
  • Supporting the application through ITIL processes, among which
    • Incident, Problem and Change Management
  • Managing and improving the Deployment Pipeline and embedding quality controls as part of it

  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Testing skills
    • Defining and applying test standards & guidelines
    • Defining test vision and test strategy
    • Using Test Automation Frameworks for defining and running automated tests
    • Experience with (Acceptance) Test Driven Development and ability to promote it
    • Experience with integrating automated tests within build & deployment pipeline (CD/CI)
    • Experience with setting up automated performance tests (measuring performance against benchmark and different types of load)
  • Coaching skills
    • Mentoring and training other Ops Engineers in the field of testing and automation
    • Facilitation skills
  • Technology, tools and process knowledge
    • Cucumber, Selenium
    • ITIL knowledge (Incident, Problem and Change Management)
    • CI/CD, Jenkins knowledge
    • Agile team experience with SCRUM or Kanban or XP
    • Java knowledge
    • Azure DevOps
  • Mindset & soft skills
    • Automation mindset & waste buster
    • Proactive attitude, always on the look-out for improving your and our way of working
    • Diplomacy and good communication skills
    • Not shy to express and defend his/her opinion in front of a crowd (even if it is not the popular opinion)
