IT Support Specialist

The Catawiki Story

, , - at Catawiki, we come across exceptional objects such as these every single day. As Europe’s fastest growing online auction platform, our mission is to make special objects available to everyone.

In fact, 10 million users are buying and selling on Catawiki every month. This means we are continually growing and always on the lookout for new talent.

Born and raised in The Netherlands, we started in 2008 as a platform where collectors could manage their collections online. Yet, times change, ideas evolve, and in 2011 we hosted our first online auction and we haven’t looked back since! We’ve now grown to 650+ Catawikians working across 7 International offices and are proud to have maintained our start-up mentality.

How we work

Being the largest online auction platform for special objects in Europe we strive to provide staff with the IT tools, education, advice and support needed to do their best work. We use our knowledge of technology to help Catawikians build the most popular destination for special objects across the globe. Provide staff with the IT tools, education, advice and support needed to realise Catawiki company goals.

What you’ll do

As our IT Support Specialist (Level 1) you will support your Catawiki colleagues (Catawikians!) by classifying and resolving their IT support tickets through chat, email and phone. When you reach the limits of your knowledge, you work with your Level 2 colleagues to see the problem through to resolution.

What do the problems include? You are the first point of call for issues with laptops, mobile phones and account access, as well as the wider technology infrastructure including video conferencing tools, printers, WiFi, and software licensing. You’ll be updating the IT knowledge base with your learnings.

We are a fast growing company and you will play a critical role in providing hardware and accounts to new employees, as well as arranging hardware replacements and returns. When a person leaves Catawiki you securely offboard their accounts and hardware.

You will work 5 days a week and are flexible to starting or finishing outside of usual office hours to support our SE Asia colleagues.

Your main tasks will include:

  • Helpdesk support for issues such as password resets, MFA, and access problems related to our fleet of SaaS tools (Including GSuite, Okta, Slack, JAMF)

  • Working with our Level 2 IT Support Specialists to resolve more complex ad hoc issues, identifying areas for improvement, and escalating problems as necessary.

  • Performing hands-on fixes at the hardware level, including installing and upgrading software, configuring operating systems and applications for macOS and Chrome OS.

  • Shipping and receiving hardware to Catawikians; onboarding, offboarding, refresh, repair.

  • Remote troubleshooting (JAMF, GSuite admin)

  • Maintaining the VoIP telephone system: assigning licenses and extensions, troubleshooting and liaising with suppliers as necessary.

  • Troubleshooting issues with internet connectivity, CRM and VoIP tools where necessary (We use Hubspot, and Kustomer but prior knowledge of these is not essential).

  • Liaising with hardware providers to order new technology equipment and software licenses internationally, and keeping the asset inventory updated

What you’ll bring

This role would be ideal for someone wanting to make a start in their IT career. Our ideal profile would look something like this:

A proactive and versatile IT enthusiast with (or studying for) a Bachelor degree in a related field, around 1+ year of relevant work experience, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and fluency in English. We require experience with macOS, and knowing how to troubleshoot Chrome OS and mobile devices (Android / iOS), you will also have experience with:

  • Essential: Knowledge of IT support best practices and ticketing, cloud platforms, basic networking, software licensing

  • Solving problems and always seeking the root cause of a problem.

  • Knowing where to look for solutions to IT issues using internal documentation and internet resources.

  • Collaborative working in a multicultural and international environment.

  • You are friendly whilst being assertive, outgoing, communicative and enjoy speaking with different people throughout the day

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to absorb and retain information quickly with an enthusiasm for learning.

Diversity
Catawiki is committed to building a diverse company and diverse teams. That includes everyone, no matter your age, ability, gender, race, religion or sexual orientation. We welcome applications from underserved and underrepresented communities. If you’ve got a story to tell, come and join us.

Working and hiring remotely
As we navigate through the Covid19 pandemic together, we want to reassure you that keeping candidates and our employees safe is of paramount importance to us. That’s why the entire recruitment process will take place remotely, using phone and video calls. For successful applicants who end up being hired, we always ensure a safe, engaging, and (for the time being) remote onboarding experience. When it is safe to do so, Catawiki will be implementing a hybrid work policy where employees based in the Netherlands will work from the office once per week and from home for the rest.

Here’s what we can offer you
This is your chance to become part of a fast but sustainable growing tech company! You'll be part of an enthusiastic, highly motivated team of 650+ international Catawikians; you'll have big responsibilities and can really create something. Additionally you can expect:

  • A diverse and international team with over 50 different nationalities.

  • As part of Catawiki’s goal to create a healthy and happy culture, we’ve partnered with, a global leader in mindfulness and meditation! We provide our employees with a free one-year subscription for Headspace.

  • Work from home office set-up to make sure you have all you need in an ergonomically-friendly manner.

  • A bike scheme for employees that helps realise a tax advantage which makes a bike up to 35% cheaper than buying!

  • Our entrepreneurial environment encourages everyone to take initiative and experiment with new ideas. You’ll actively contribute to the growth of the Catawiki platform.

  • The fun part! Our Activity Committee plans everything from ‘CataFooty’ to International Food Festivals, Friday Drinks, Board Game Nights, Pub Quizzes and Boot Camps!

  • And there’s more! Paid holidays, Holiday Allowance, a discount on health insurance and a fantastic pension plan paid for by Catawiki.
