Do you want to be part of developing the next generation of customer experience in banking – all  based on data?

Every step in the customer journey should be a fantastic experience. Proactive communication, personal messaging, and real time relevant content will be largely based on data. Data is one of the key assets of our bank. The bank is rapidly changing to a digital environment and creating a huge amount of relevant data. This gives an opportunity to use this data in our marketing automation stack and be the innovative company we want to be.  For this challenge, we are looking for an ambitious developer who is capable of delivering the required solutions, guiding the teams toward the future and informing the stakeholders about the progress and results.

We strongly believe that online banking should be easier, faster, delightful, and more personal to create sustainable long-term relationships with our customers. We develop suitable solutions that give our customers greater financial control. With a vast amount of data at hand, together with our unique usability lab as test-station we build digital services in an agile way that surprise customers and help them move forward.

Since we are ambitious, we need your expertise to help us reaching our goals. Together with enthusiastic and talented colleagues of the Polar team and Marketing Automation teams you are going to identify and realize business opportunities by building an API ecosystem on the cloud connecting all our channels

Your job
  • Within Marketing Automation different marketing tooling and applications are being used that are connected to each other, creating a continuous feedback loop with which we interact with our customers in a relevant and personal way. In this chain of applications we use different API’s to enable campaigns and interactions with our customers trough our different customer channels. The team in which you will be working has its primary focus on developing and maintaining these API’s.
  • The API’s which this team is working on are developed on hybrid enterprise cloud environments  in AWS (and Azure in the future). For most of these API’s there is no ‘on-size-fits-all’-solution, which means as a team you are free to design and develop an API in the most efficient way. As a developer this gives you the opportunity to work with the newest cloud capabilities, such as AWS Lambda, cloud functions, infra as code and serverless.
  • Because the API’s in this chain of marketing tooling applications take a central place, you will closely work together with different teams to enable a personal and relevant experience for our ABN AMRO customers.
  • Within our daily work the following tools are used: JIRA, SonarQube, Fortify, Jenkins, GIT, Postman, JUnit.
  • Technologies that we are investigating and might start working with in the future: GraphQL, PostgreSQL, Terraform, Microsoft Azure.
Working environment

The team in which you will be working is an easy-going team that also likes to do activities together outside of work. It’s a team of professionals that like to work in an informal atmosphere. PingPong-, Darts- or FIFA-skills are nice to have, but not mandatory. At the moment, due to Covid19-restrictions, we work from home 100% of the time. When it is allowed, we will turn back to (part time) working from the office.

The team is working completely Agile and has also embraced the DevOps way of working which entails that the team’s core tasks are more than just development. We develop it, maintain it and run it.

The team is also used to ‘pair programming’, most development tasks are done using this way of working.

The calls for digital personalisation are growing every day. To stay ahead of the curve, we are revitalising the end-user experiences and putting good use to their plethora of customer data. This personalisation of end-user platforms like Mobile, Web, Call Centre and targeted marketing is bringing banks ever closer to their customers, even extending to chatbots, SMS, emails, voice assistants, internet banking and a lot more across channels. Marketing automation devotes itself to support the provision of campaigns that are personalised towards the needs of the customers of the bank by continuously getting feedback on customer-behaviour in combination with their profiles. This information is getting processed into more fine-tuned and refined campaigns that can be shown to the (future) customer.

Within this team at ABN AMRO we are developing API’s and services that are being used to connect different platforms and toolings. The ABN AMRO website, Internet Banking, the ABN AMRO App and apps like for example Tikkie and Grip make use of our API’s and services. For this we are closely working together with the other Marketing Automation teams and channel teams. This team will help to get the right and specific content to the right customer trough the right channel trough enabling a solution that is highly scalable, elastic and available. We enable ABN AMRO to be a personal bank in a digital age.
