Product Designer (UI/UX) Job description

Want to turn the world of cycling upside down and take the digital experience of more than 200,000 members to the highest level?

We are Swapfiets; started in 2014 and currently active in nearly 70 cities, across 7 different countries. At our HQ in Amsterdam, we work with around a hundred colleagues to offer the very best user experience to our members, who in turn receive epic service from a team of 1100+ Swappers and Mechanics.

Discovering, analyzing, sketching, designing, shipping - your passion to launch new things as simple and early as possible makes sure we learn how people interact with our products. You’re responsible for creating experiences that are simple, service-oriented and bring convenience: always thinking one step ahead. You do this together with your (scrum) product team, with whom you deliver solutions that drive user value and help contribute to business success.

What your day looks like
In this role you own the entire design process for your product. On a daily basis, you are busy with mapping out customer journeys, defining a promising hypothesis based on data, coming up with new innovative ideas for product improvements, conducting user interviews, leading design sprints with stakeholders, making rough sketches, prototyping, detailing designs for all states, analyzing data, etc. You own and appreciate it all. You enjoy getting close to the user and understand the importance of qualitative and quantitative insights for your designs.


Responsibilities

  • Lead product design and innovation for 1 digital product
  • Accountable for the usability of delivered solutions
  • Lead user journeys mappings, research, prototyping, wireframing and user testing
  • Lead solution definition, validated with user testing, team & stakeholders
  • Advocate for user-first thinking, sharing & challenging user insights across the board
  • Suggest improvements to the digital product design life cycle and practice; implementation of best practices within your team
  • Contribute to and facilitate design thinking and practice within your team
  • Coach junior colleagues on design practice, thinking and outcome contribution



The ideal candidate will have:

  • Higher vocational working and thinking level
  • Minimum of 2-4 years experience working as a Product Designer or 3-5 years as a Junior Product Designer or a similar role working on digital products
  • Brings a solid portfolio covering one or more digital products and industries
  • Basic understanding of user discovery and testing methodologies
  • Experienced with participating in design sprints and contributing to building design practice
  • Problem solver and customer-centered, detail oriented and critical thinker;
  • Experience with Scrum way of working
  • Experience with design tools like Adobe XD, Sketch and Figma
  • Experience with business process mapping and designing flows that help collect clean data

Procedure

Next, the first interview is with a Product Manager and our Head of digital Product. The second interview is held with two team members, followed by a third-round, which is a case presentation (prepared at home). The fourth round is an informal coffee with our Data, Digital and Technology Director. Are you and Swapfiets still as enthusiastic at the end of the process? Then you will receive an offer to join the Swapfiets team.
