At a glance

Finance and Risk are developing at a rapid pace. Technology, external regulation and internal steering offer numerous new opportunities, as well as challenges. Data Management has taken off and all eyes are on the new data governance and the way we structure our data requirements.

Finance FA (Financial Accounting) Reporting is the biggest data consumer of the bank. The way this data flows through the bank is what we call lineage. The physical flow is extremely manifold and complex. However, that does not matter, because we have you. You understand the flow and you are able to make this visible in very simple reports that structure this complexity and filter out all the things that are part of the lineage, but not that important.

Do you want to be at the core of the data management framework? At the centre of the regulatory requirements? At the top of the data lineage capabilities and use? Are you enthusiastic about data lineage? Do you know how to work with SAS tooling (BI, Lineage, Viya) and do you like to make complex things very simple and transparent? Then you really want to become the new Finance SAS Visual analytics (VA) & business intelligence (BI) developer!

Your job

The SAS Visual analytics (VA) & business intelligence (BI) developer, will play a role in implementing SAS technical data lineage solution within the FRAAI (Finance & Risk Architecture Alignment Initiative)  program. This program aims to implement the integrated Wolters Kluwer and SAS solution for finance and risk group functions.  Lineage is a part of this solution.

ABN AMRO bank, as a financial institution, must comply with PERDARR (BCBS239) regulation. Data lineage, both business and technical, is one of the means to comply with this regulation. Furthermore, in ABN AMRO, we recognize that data lineage supports other business capabilities and business users to perform their daily operations.

Metadata lineage covers the full scope of the solution environment, from sourcing to regulatory reporting. The metadata lineage so far has been implemented. Now we have a challenging task: How to bring metadata lineage into our daily business operations. The data lineage team focuses on building data lineage analytical reports in SAS Visual Analytics to reach this goal. In simple terms: We try to create very easy to understand reports, that show what data is used where.

The SAS Visual Analytics and BI developer is responsible for:

  • Gathering business requirements related to the usage of metadata lineage
  • Translating these requirements into user-friendly analytical reports
  • Realizing technical specifications into technical solutions: data lineage analytical reports
  • Testing, and maintaining metadata reports within SAS VA
  • Communicating with SAS and WK teams on metadata related topics
  • Training business users in the use of data lineage and data lineage reports
Working environment

Data Management FA is a small team of highly valued professionals, positioned within Finance. These professionals are involved in a number of Data Management knowledge areas, such as Data Quality issue Management, Dataflow and Processes, Data Lineage, Data Profiling and Monitoring and Data Modelling and the like.

Every employee has his / her own specialism, but also spends some time in other knowledge areas to help, build relationships and grow.

We take pride in setting high goals and aiming for the stars. We create a safe environment, where we help each other, stand-in for each other and give trust. We do not mind if a goal is not reached, as long as we can be proud of the part we did achieve. We are not afraid to fail, but are very transparent about what we will and will not deliver. We have humour, try to be more than just colleagues and try to take ourselves not too seriously.

On the other hand, we will not back away from a good discussion, as long as this is on content or process and not personal.

Within the department you are managed on WHAT you should achieve. HOW you do that, is something you can determine for yourself, within the boundaries of the rules of governance and risk. This setting gives you great freedom. With great freedom comes great responsibility and the need to set your own goals and then try to reach them.
