DevOps Engineer (Experienced)

Organizational Context

ING is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer within the Financial Markets & Group Treasury (FM&GT) domain. Our primary function is to service the needs of ING’s clients with products, services and advice. FM&GT aims to be a leading market player in our home markets, with an additional presence in all the major international markets and specialist expertise in selected emerging markets and products.

Your work environment

In this role you will be part of the Murex team which is globally responsible for the technical support, maintenance and enhancement of IT systems covering the entire Platform. The ING Wholesale Banking organization is in the midst of transitioning into an Agile Way of Working, wherein the Platforms and Capabilities squads will work in a close way in order to meet the clients’ needs. The DevOps Engineer is a key member of the Lifecycle Management squad responsible to keep our application up-to-date, stable and continually enhanced to bring continued business value.

The DevOps Engineer will combine analytical, technical and functional expertise in order to perform the following:

• Build pipelines, processes, tooling to automate, enhance and simplify the development, testing, release/deployment and monitoring/maintenance of our Murex application
• Help support our Murex environments to ensure all environments are adequately setup, managed and fit for purpose by different teams, including supporting change projects and testing.
• Build out and extend our extensive monitoring and solve problems where required.
• You elicit functional/non-functional requirements from users and translate them into user stories for the squad backlog or for the vendor backlog.
• Assist the squad or other related squads any required tasks like collecting logs for investigation, doing checks after changes/patches etc.
• Help automate patching of all aspects within our technical domain, including Linux, Oracle DB, Citrix and other software patching using a continuous delivery pipeline to do software releases.
• Fully contribute to improving the squads effectiveness whilst ensuring all mandatory requirements such as IT risk control, change control etc. are adhered to.
• Work on Risk related controls such as Security Monitoring, Identity and Access Management, Change Management, Platform Security and more.
• Contribute to Incident, Problem and Change Management, including help in structural solution for reoccurring problems and keeping first-rate levels of service management.
• Attend daily, weekly and bi-weekly meetings with the squad.
• Contribute to improvements and be proactively engaged in the teams Scrum ceremonies.

Mandatory

• Bachelor or Master level degree knowledge and capability
• Excellent experience of the Murex application: core modules, key processes, monitoring solutions and interconnectivity with other systems
• Excellent technical skills including Linux, scripting and housekeeping
• Knowledge of IT networks, monitoring tools, Citrix and troubleshooting issues
• Good knowledge and experience with Databases: SQL, troubleshooting, Oracle Administration
• Extended knowledge and experience with Continuous Delivery tools such as Git and Ansible & AzureDevOps
• Experience with automated testing, continuous testing flows and ideally MXTest/Onyx
• Understanding of common technology infrastructure, servers, networks, firewalls, Citrix etc.
• Can do attitude and ability to take on an own the task through to completion
• Understanding and experience with unit, integration and end-to-end testing
• Experienced in Agile / Scrum / DevOps methodologies

Desired (willing to learn)

• Good knowledge of scheduling tools for EOD, and Trade life cycle management.
• Experience in the Front Office Financial domain including evidence of managing platform topology, design, and underlying infrastructure for a bond, swaps, and futures trading platform.
• Experience in a Trading environment and preferably also some knowledge of FX and MM trades, their lifecycle and the business components.
• Knowledge of downstream trade booking, risk management, hedging processes, and systems such as Murex.
• Prior experience of working with 3rd party infra or software providers
• Interest in future technology, machine learning,
