ING is looking for an experienced Backend Engineer who will build the foundation of our online insurances channel to offer the best user experience for our customers. We look for an engineer with modern-day engineering skills and competencies like an eye for innovation, creativity, attention to detail and communication.

We are

ING Bank’s Insurance squad and we are responsible for the development of the insurance platform for ING. Within the IT landscape we mainly use the following technologies and frameworks: Java, Spring-Boot, Spring- Jpa, Spring-Security, CI-CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure DevOps. All based on a containerized solutions and Tomcat/Linux/ Apache Cassandra stack on which responsibility of the developer to deliver every feature into production.

You are

A highly motivated engineer who likes to work in a multidisciplinary team of engineers and business colleagues. Next to your work in the squad, you also like to contribute to the mastery of other engineers and improve the way of work within ING.

You are a senior back-end engineer with more than 7 years experience in Java back-end development. You are a hardcore Java developer and you have experience with Java 8 or higher, Spring (Boot), and back-end tooling like Maven, Jenkins, Git, Sonar and with the Tomcat server. You have a good understanding of relational databases and experience designing and implementing them. And you have experience with applying (back-end) design patterns and architecture. You have experience with Cloud and in particular with Azure Cloud. You also have some experience or knowledge of front-end development.

You have experience as a lead engineer, leading a team of engineers, creating the software architecture, and leading the refinement of the business requirements, great analytical skills, and conceptual understanding. You are able to quickly understand new technical concepts and technology and you have a strong interest in, and vision of, the latest trends in software development and technology. You have experience with giving presentations and workshops, and in general, have strong communication skills that enable you to explain complex technical concepts to non-techies. Your English in speaking and writing is fluent and you are a team player who likes to join the social events of the squad and ING organization.
