TOPdesk is an international software company in the field of service management with 900 employees in 11 countries and 4,000 customers worldwide. For our location in Delft we are looking for a Head of User Experience to support our international UX team.

What will you do as a the Head of UX?

As the Head of UX, you will provide technical and disciplinary leadership of a team of more than 20 UX professionals in product development (designers and researchers), provide professional guidance and support team members in their career growth. You will also have an important role in driving and implementing organizational changes for UX to create the optimal structure and processes that empowers customer centricity at TOPdesk. You will represent UX in Product Management and collaborate with engineering partners to make sure that user needs are considered in product decisions and in product strategy.

Your role means also translating product strategy into actionable goals for the research and design team, as well as aligning UX efforts within development. You will be an advocate for the importance of user centricity within the company. Your tasks will also include collaboration with research team on planning research projects and establishing UX metrics for the whole product, and also collaboration with the design system team for creating common design resources. 

Where will you be working?

Our 16 development teams are spread across four locations in three countries: Kaiserslautern (DE), Budapest (HU), Delft (NL) and Tilburg (NL). In the coming years, TOPdesk will invest in outstanding customer experience and high-performing UX teams. As Head of UX we need you to drive organisational change for UX, ensure increasing UX maturity and create and establish a user-centric product vision as a member of our product management team.

TOPdesk has grown into an organisation with now more than 1000 employees internationally and a growing product development department with about 150 employees. Our organisation is constantly evolving to meet and exceed market expectations. We focus on increasing the maturity of UX by embedding UX into product management, adapting the team structure and establishing a dedicated research team.

In our product development department, the Head of UX is a member of the product management team, together with the Enterprise Architect and Senior Product Managers. The Head of UX reports to the Head of Product.

Are you the Head of UX we’re looking for?
  • Successfully completed university degree with a business, psychological or comparable focus
  • At least 10 years of experience in a digital product organisation, preferably in a large organisation
  • At least 8 years of experience in UX design practice, stakeholder management and coaching of UX and development teams
  • At least 3 years of experience managing and leading design teams
  • Experience in restructuring design teams and embedding them in the organisation
  • Pragmatic approach to designing a product strategy that combines business, development and user-centric requirements across a complex product domain
  • Effectiveness in collaborating across boundaries in the organisation to define, manage and administer work
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working in an agile environment
  • Very good command of English to communicate on an international level
