Oracle Dev Engineer in Amsterdam

ING is looking for a senior Oracle Developer that has very solid experience in PL/SQL development, Oracle tuning and Python.

The Global Processing Center (GPC) Accounting chapter is positioned within the Finance tribe Accounting and is primarily responsible for delivering IT services and application changes regarding  accounting, reconciliation and financial reporting. Assets in scope are PAR (Product Accounting Rules), FSD (Finance Static Data) and RCN (reconciliation).

The chapter has an agile mind-set, an eye and drive for continuous improvement, is Risk aware and has eagerness to learn and adapt. The chapter is data driven and is the trusted advisor to its stakeholders.

Especially looking at the numerous requirements coming our way, this chapter plays a crucial role and is at the heart of ING Finance.

The Global Processing Center (GPC) of ING Finance is processing every night all commercial banking transactions for accounting and reporting purposes. This time critical processing is based on several applications using Oracle technology (PL/SQL, Forms, APEX, Oracle Designer) on RHEL servers. We also use Azure DevOps for version control and automatic deployments.

We are in the process of renewing our technology stack by adding automated testing, and concepts like BDD and TDD. Technology we are moving towards is Python with JavaScript framework  

Given the expanding skills needed and growing amount of change we are looking for more colleagues that can help us accelerate.

As member of the GPC you will be working in a complex data processing environment, which is migrating in the coming year to a private cloud architecture. Security, Life Cycle Management and (test) automation based on CD/CI are important topics. Understanding and close collaboration with our Finance business is important to be successful. The way of working is based on Agile / Scrum principles.

Your responsibilities are:

• Align with Finance regarding requirements, and creating designs.

• Design, Develop and test code based on the technologies used.

• Improve and expand our CD/CI pipeline including automated testing.

• Document relevant information.

• Keep security and risk controls up-to-date.

And relevant experience regarding the following skills:

• You have at least five years of fulltime PL-SQL experience.

• You have at least three years of extensive experience with Linux platforms.

• Preferably you have two years of extensive experience in two of the following skills

  • Experience with Aptitude.

  • Forms and Apex development expertise.

  • Setup and improvement of CD/CI pipelines.

  • Oracle Designer expertise

You have experience or a proven interest in

• Python software development.

• Automated testing based on BDD/TDD concepts.

• Functional knowledge regarding commercial banking products.

Having a background in Banking or Financial industry is in all cases a nice to have.
