The opportunity

You are an inspiring leader of the Cloud Tribe within TechInfra. You draw energy from creating an environment where people can reach their full potential and where squads have the confidence to take responsibility when it comes to realizing their missions. You act as an ambassador for the Cloud to the consumers through frequent interaction and alignment.
 

The team

As the IT Area Lead you are responsible for the engineers working in your area of 80-100 FTE across 4 countries (Netherlands, Poland, Belgium and Germany) You define the way of working, build an excellent engineering culture and drive the coding and tooling standards. Together with the other IT Area lead you build the continuous delivery pipeline for the cloud applications and services. Together with all 4 area leads you build and maintain ING’s global cloud strategy (both private and public cloud), working towards building one global infrastructure platform for all ING teams globally.

Roles and responsibilities

With your solid management background you are overall responsible for driving the vision across your squads and are able to tell stories to engage and influence within the organisation to create alignment to the objectives.

You will also be responsible for setting the people development path for Chapter Leads to develop the required set of skills. You determine the strategy for the Cloud Tribe together with the other Area Leads and implement the strategy within your Area.

You set the long-term vision and strategy for the Cloud Area

• Support the definition of full service visions and roadmaps that feeds into the Cloud Tribe mission

• Identify relevant tech trends to drive innovation within Private Cloud Tribe.

• You are going to closely work with the Product Area Lead to deliver the best product to our consumers.

• Define clear objectives and key results (OKRs) for your area and communicate them to the squads.

• Bring Evidence-Based Decision-Making to your communication

You align stakeholders and focus on consumer needs

• You are a ruthless prioritizer while balancing the needs of consumers and stakeholders

• You align with other Infra Areas on strategic plans

• You know your stakeholders and closely interact with them to create and improve products and service offerings

• Contribute significantly to Quarterly Business Review

• You will be able to prioritise and continually weight the competing factors of your objectives for your products and services.

You build an engineering culture within your area

• You select, coach and train the engineers in your team

• You set the technology roadmap for the engineers together with the enterprise architects

• Set and incorporate CI/CD strategy: 4-eyes principle, automated testing, deployment and configuration management

• You closely collaborate with consumers along the full service lifecycle

• Resolve impediments together with other IT Infra Area Leads

• You act as ambassador of the service from Tech Infra to the consumers

You apply and improve the Agile and DevOps way of working within the Cloud Area

• Translate DevOps principles to the squads and enforce implementation and adaptation of those principles

• You advocate Agile Engineering Practices and can help your squads to improve their way of working.

You continuously develop yourself with (specific) knowledge

• Continuously encourage researching and experimentation of new ideas within squads

• Coach other tribe members on best product development practices.
