IT Lead Analytics Engineering in Amsterdam

The opportunity

We are looking for an experienced IT Lead Analytics Engineering to manage diverse development teams and who operates with vision and integrity. The responsibilities of an IT Lead Analytics Engineering include leading teams of developers and engineers, collaborating with product managers and improving company policies and standards.

To be successful as an IT Lead Analytics Engineering, you should have prior organizational leadership experience, be able to collaborate with team members, and be a strategic problem solver. Ultimately, a top-notch IT Lead Analytics Engineering should demonstrate excellent communication skills, an ability to connect with engineers and business stakeholders alike and have a solid foundation in software design. Of course, because you will be working in a bank, you understand the importance of security and the impact of risk.

The highly ambitious product teams you will lead are recognized experts in their field, with multiple presentations at KubeCon and PyData, articles submitted to academic journals and contributions to open-source projects such as Apache Spark, Kubernetes and Apache Airflow. The teams are in the UK, Netherlands, Poland and Romania. They target both internal users and our external customer base.

The team

This role is part of Banking Technology Platform (BTP) and the Analytics Tribe. You will jointly oversee the teams for the Data Analytics Platform, which targets 50% of all employees of ING, IntelliChain the news analytics tool for supply chain specialists, Holmes cross company opinionated search and OneClient, with several others on the horizon. Next to that, you will develop the analytics operations for other business lines.

Roles and responsibilities

• Drive innovative ideas, solutions and products through leadership and decisive action
• Align overall product vision with company goals and customer needs
• Leading the teams through management and mentorship, and oversee complex deliveries
• Contributing to recruitment activities
• Developing standards and procedures to ensure quality standards are met and are consistent
• Preparing and optimizing budgets

• Master of Science in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
• Proven track record in delivering cloud native analytics products and services and developing customer-oriented platforms
• Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms, preferably in the financial domain.
• Ability to steer and empower teams of skilled data engineers responsible for high criticality applications
• Passionate about growing and developing technical talent
• Experience in recruiting engineers and contributors
• Must be knowledgeable about industry trends, best practices and change management
• Distributed computing
• (Machine) Learning Algorithms
• Data science (Spark, Python, GPU programming)
• Cloud Infrastructure (Network, OS, Storage) and Security (Security by design, testing)
• Data engineering (Pipelining, Data versioning, Profiling, Scheduling)
