AI & ML are crucial enablers to go into the next era of technology developments. The Customer & Data domain plays a crucial role to make this happen and is one of six domains within Tech NL. The total department has over 500 employees.

Job description

As IT Lead Customer & Data  you’ll be leading the following areas, all headed by an IT Area Lead: KYC & Onboarding, Document management, Customer data, Fraud & 1:1 analytics and Data management. specifically, you’re responsible for:

Translating and implementing the IT strategy in line with the bank’s strategy. Understanding business challenges, which leads to design and develop tech that drives innovation throughout the organisation and guarantees excellent customer experiences. Ensuring a safe and compliant bank, stability and reliability of the IT landscape (including a simplified IT architecture) and defining and implementing a proper vendor and sourcing strategy.

Creating and ensuring the engineering culture and one Agile Way of Working within your domain. In this capacity, you act as an ambassador for cultural change and serve as a role model. Stimulating interaction between and alignment across people, tribes, squads, areas and chapters. Furthermore you’ll drive cross-cultural collaboration and create an atmosphere in which everyone feels appreciated. You work closely with a multitude of stakeholders (global tech, …) and align them around the common Tech vision, strategy and way of working.

Next to this you’ll have (people) management responsibility for five IT Area Leads and a number of feature engineers. Ensuring overall IT maturity and drive craftsmanship of the employees working in your respective domain. To make this happen, you deeply understand the challenges of engineers and encourage IT Area Leads to continuously develop their capabilities and competencies to remain up-to-market in their field at all times.

Your work environment

You will be a member of the Tech NL senior management team, reporting to the CIO of the Netherlands. Your peers are the IT Leads of the other domains, including the Chief Architect NL. You will furthermore work closely together with the retail, business banking, operations and Risk senior leadership teams from the domestic bank and central ING Tech departments.

Profile (desired skills & experience)

  • A Master’s degree in computer science, or related technical discipline
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing IT strategy, in a challenging environment
  • Proven people management experience and being able to empower teams
  • Strong analytical thinking & problem-solving skills
  • Capable to bring Tech culture in a changing organization
  • Exceptional project management & organizational skills
  • Collaborates with engineers to implement and deploy scalable solutions
  • Provides though leadership by researching best practices, conducting experiments and collaborating with industry leaders
  • Strong stakeholder management
  • Ability to communicate Tech information to all levels of the organization
  • Up to date with new Technology and more important you understand when to use it
