Job description

As a machine learning engineer, you will be joining ING Analytics Wholesale Banking team. You will be part of a squad that works within a platform called Data Analytics Platform (DAP) which has over 2000 users across the bank.You will apply your Software Engineering expertise and domain experience in developing the platform for delivering features that allows productionizing machine learning models onto DAP. You positively contribute to putting research into production and introduce & nurture innovation within it.

Your passion is to work with the latest and greatest technologies that make productionizing machine learning models easy, you’re proactive in keeping yourself up to date and experimenting with new technologies. You enjoy laying the architectural foundation while aligning the business problem with the right technology. You combine both thinking of the future and a hands-on, right now, attitude. You identify on which fronts a team can grow and help them get there. You work in a team with highly skilled people and enjoy a creative atmosphere where experimentation is encouraged. You have a learning attitude not only to master new technologies and programming languages, but also on the interpersonal level. You ask and give feedback. What department?

ING Analytics Wholesale Banking team is a team of 120 people (and growing rapidly) that has the mission to make  Banking in ING data driven. We do this by combining Big Data technology with Data Science to deliver high value solutions and products for our organization. We work in a fun and creative environment and we’re dedicated to bringing out the best in both each other and our projects.

Your experience

• Experience with systems engineering in a highly regulated enterprise environment;

• Experience in building 0-downtime distributed software systems;

• Extensive experience in Scala, Java or Python. Familiarity with the Scala ecosystem is a strong plus;

• Experience with (REST) API design and service meshes;

• Experience with productionizing Machine Learning Models and the model life cycle;

• Experience securely building container images (e.g. Docker) and running container workloads in production (e.g. Kubernetes, OpenShift);

• Experience with working in an agile/scrum way, but at least you have a strong willingness to do so;

• Experience with building CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity with Azure DevOps is a plus;

• Experience with configuration management technology (e.g. Ansible);

• Good understanding of streaming technologies Kafka or Flink;

• Good understanding of databases; both RDBMS and noSQL (e.g. Cassandra, MongoDB);

• Fluent in written and spoken English (Dutch is not required);

• Being an Open Source contributor is a plus.
