Your role and work environment

ING’s Payment and Settlement Services (“PSS”) aims to further mature, develop and expand ING’s state of the art payments platforms and services. PSS will focus on delivering payments and settlement services, meeting the expectations of ING’s business lines and beyond, whilst ensuring the basics: safe, secure, compliant and reliable. PSS is an independent unit within ING’s CTO domain, reporting directly into ING’s Chief Technology Officer.

PSS is responsible for providing standardized payments and settlement services to multiple ING business lines (WB, Retail, GT and others). There is a clear ambition to also look for external commercialization of our payment platforms.

Within PSS, the Head of Products acts as the business owner of the payment platforms. The Head of Products is functionally responsible for the provision of the payment services, and hierarchically responsible for the full business population (product area leads, business chapter leads, PO/CJE’s and all others) in PSS. The Head of Products is part of the PSS’s management team and is reporting into the Head of PSS.

Your key responsibilities

As the Head of Products of PSS you:

 Together with the Head of PSS and the other members of the management team, establish a clear vision and strategy for PSS;

 Are the business owner of the payments services of PSS to the extent that the services allow all ING business lines (incl. WB, Retail) to provide a competitive product offering towards ING clients. This includes ensuring that payments services provided by PSS allow for aspired CX by the ING business lines;

 Work with the Head of PSS and other members of the management team to explore and progress the ambition to commercialize our payment platforms towards clients outside of ING;

 Strategic and operational alignment with key ING stakeholders (incl. WB / Retail stakeholders, and with the note that the strategic alignment is led by the Head of PSS)

 Ensure, together with the global tribe lead WB Payments and head of Payments Retail, that the services offered by PSS match the requirements as posed by INGs business lines;

 Ensure, together with the Tech lead, that the payment services provided by PSS meet the availability / reliability requirements of PSS;

 Ensure, together with the Tech lead and the Ops lead, that the payment services provided by PSS comply with all applicable internal and external control frameworks. This specifically includes compliance with ING’s payments control framework;

 Define a clear overall delivery roadmap for the payments services scope of PSS;

 Define clear delivery priorities for the payments services scope of PSS;

 Ensure delivery on major change initiatives in PSS, with a zero tolerance on external regulatory / compliance milestones;

 Ensure, together with the Ops lead and the Tech lead, the integration of the GT / settlements roadmap into the overall delivery roadmap of PSS;

 Ensure, together with the Tech lead, the integration of the Tech roadmap into the overall delivery PSS roadmap;

 Ensure, together with the other members of the management team, that PSS meets its objectives on cost efficiency and total cost of ownership on payments in PSS;

 Participate, in collaboration and alignment with the business lines, in interbank / industry forums as appropriate and required; 

 Take ownership, from a delivery roadmap perspective, of the ambition of PSS to support onboarding of external FI’s on our payment platforms;

 Are co-responsible, together with head of Payments Retail and the global tribe lead WB Payments, for ING’s total payments value proposition

In addition, as the Head of Products you have a number of responsibilities that are similar as ING Tribe Leads:

 You strengthen the ING One Agile Way of Working as a role model while safeguarding the Orange Code.

 You ensure regulatory compliance across your entire domain.

 You are IT asset and/or data owner for all relevant IT assets and data in scope.

 You are accountable for design of risk & control compliancy in order to mitigate business and operational risks.

 You maintain contacts with stakeholders and external parties (for example ECB, IT Vendors, ….).

 You stimulate cross-border interaction and alignment between people, Tribes, Squads, Chapters, FO organization and Service organization.

 You offer easy and safe products and processes to our customers. Flawless transaction handling and reporting.

 You are responsible for the data within PSS, how it is gathered and used.

 You are expected to represent ING at various industry forums and conferences (or delegate representation) and to meet clients, both to represent ING on their product area as well as collate relevant industry-related trends and information, to be used in the course of carrying out their role.

Proven track record and technical skills:

 Master degree.

 5-10 years’ proven track record at management level.

 A personality and the capabilities to optimally function within an Agile environment.

 Experience in guiding and realising change.

 Experience/affinity with Payments is a plus.

 Affinity with IT is a plus.

 Sound experience in building strategic roadmaps.

 Expertise in driving and steering multidisciplinary teams (BusDevOps).

 Proven experience in strategic projects with high impact.

 Excellent level of English.
