IT Chapterlead Microfocus

We are looking for an inspiring IT Chapter Lead with experience in the Cobol/PL1 MicroFocus platform within the collections & Generics department. Within the Agile Way of Working, he or she gives direction to the craftsmanship of the chapter members and contributes hands-on in a squad to achieving the strategic objectives. You do this in by working end-to-end Agile yourself on the user stories from the backlog.

As an IT Chapter Lead MicroFocus stack you actively participate in the development, management and monitoring of Cobol/PL1 applications in a continuously improving organization. You have positive energy, know the Agile Way-of-Work and are open to various challenges on a platform with (very) different IT systems. You are great at motivating colleagues, have a strong drive to achieve results and you are more than skilled in the field of MicroFocus related software and hardware.

The opportunity

On the one hand, as a Development or Operations Engineer in a professional team of Development and Operations Engineers (DevOps team), you fulfill an important IT substantive role in adapting the business Cobol/PL1 MicroFocus applications of ING. You work closely with other colleagues within the IT Area and beyond. You not only 'talk' technology, but also understand the process importance of the applications and what this ultimately means for our customers. You also give substance to the IT strategy and you manage migrations to target environments and new technologies.

In WoW, 60% of your time is therefore involved in development, simplifying, decommissioning, management and implementation of applications. You act as a coach of the team (chapter) for the other 40% of your position and you are responsible for all HR aspects associated with stimulating, motivating and coaching the experts in your Chapter, which consists on average of 16 Cobol/PL1 MicroFocus specialists. As a Chapter Lead, in the WoW model, you are responsible for the mastery of your employees. You also work together with other IT areas based on a platform expertise that you have set up and manage.

The team

You work together with your enthusiastic and professional colleagues in a DevOps team from a location in Amsterdam Southeast. Your team (Chapter) performs activities for various Tribes and is part of the Chief Information Office (CIO) in the Netherlands. CIO is primarily focused on facilitating IT activities. Working at CIO means working within a professional, dynamic department in a continuously changing and complex environment. There is room for innovation, quality comes first and the customer is central to all activities.

The DevOps teams use the Scrum methodology and a far-reaching Agile Way-of-Work. This puts us at the forefront of the working method followed for designing, building and testing applications, as well as the process of managing and ultimately transforming applications to target platforms. In this way we continuously work on optimizing the service to our customers and strengthening our leading position in the market. In your position, you therefore have a direct influence on customer satisfaction and, of course, you are expected to put the customer's interests first in all your work.

- HBO/WO work and thinking level

- Experience developing and managing applications on IBM Mainframe Platform

- Extensive experience with COBOL, PL1, JCL, CICS, IMS, SQL server, UAC, Azure DevOps

- Extensive experience with the MicroFocus Platform

- Experience with the Windows Server OS
