Senior Oracle Database Administrator

Location: Amsterdam (hybrid mode, remote working is possible) Job type: Full time (36 hours)

The opportunity As a Senior Oracle DBA you are responsible for supporting, advising and improving services and solutions of the Oracle database platform for our consumers globally. You solve incidents as 2nd and 3rd line support, you analyze & solve performance issues, you advise and execute database migrations and you work on improvements for consumers related to usage of Oracle databases or on used processes. You are aware of new technological developments, and you advise or implement them within the organization. You are a source of information for complex technical issues. The team The team consist of 14 Oracle DBA’s, located in Amsterdam and India. We have a hybrid mode of working, which means that we work in the office on agreed/fixed days and we work from home. Flexibility is key here and WFH or office can be scheduled easily in accordance with the team members.

Roles and responsibilities Our main tasks is to provide support on operational issues, performance tuning and advise on improvements and usage of db’s. Our roles and responsibilities are extensive.
  • 2nd/3rd line operational support, including standby duties for major incidents.
  • Performance analysis and performance tuning
  • Plan and execute migrations together with consumers
  • Support PEDR activities
  • Design, Develop and implement continuous improvement processes through automation
  • Develop pipelines for db’s.
  • Automate using Ansible.

Close collaboration within and across other squads and with the consumer is of utmost importance for you. We provide our support on more than one database flavor, so we do encourage and support you picking up new skills and knowledge. We are looking for the following skills and experience for this job:
  • You have a proven track record in this role, preferably in an international environment
  • You have 5+ years of experience in operational environment
  • You have experience with Oracle Exadata platform
  • Should be able to perform root cause analysis and communication to our stakeholders
  • You have experience with multi-tenant, multi-cluster environment
  • You are an expert at performance tuning (Optimize DB design/queries/iindexes),
  • You have very good knowledge of PL/SQL,
  • You have willingness and ability to automate to the bone and master new technologies,
  • You have experience in Scrum/Kanban and Agile.
  • Competent in CI/CD development and deployment tool (Preferred, Azure DevOps)
  • You have extensive experience with Ansible
  • You have experience with OCI, hands on with both On-prem and Cloud
  • Willing to go the extra stretch when needed (outside office hours, standby)
  • Able to cope with pressure and stressful situations

Additionally, we prefer that you also score on.
  • Experience/Exposure with Linux Server,
  • Have knowledge of other database instances (MS SQL server)
