As a Platform Lead Data Analytics Platform, you will be responsible for the global analytics platform used by over a thousand data scientists, data analysts, data engineers and many more profiles from all over the ING world. You will lead nine squads that look after the various parts of the platform, from those who maintain the underlying cloud native infrastructure, to those who build the data science IDE, to those who build a managed streaming analytics engine as a service. Our mission: make ING truly data driven, by user led and focused growth of the platform to enable their analytics journeys. 

You will work with the larger organization, engage tech teams and senior stakeholders across many countries with regards to the Data Analytics Platform and be part of the full-fledged product team of DAP.

A day in the life as the Platform Lead of DAP
As Platform Lead for the Data Analytics Platform, you are the person who is on top of everything, you are the one who is looked to for a vision on where data analytics platforms at ING should be heading for, are we able as a platform to both deliver a highly stable and reliable product, while innovating to the next dot on the horizon, everyone is looking to you to see if we can make the tight deadlines…

That is why you wake up to go to work. After your morning coffee you sync up with your Tech Lead, Design Lead and Product Lead to align on your latest work in progress components towards your quarter mission, preparing a Data Analytics Platform on Google Cloud Platform. After that you have a meeting with the Chief Architect of Germany to discuss how we could work together to make the platform fit for purpose for their local needs. After that you head to a meeting with the Product Owner and the Tech lead of one of the engineering squads as they need your input if they should invest the extra time to get rid of Kerberos authentication and implement the caching layer of the platform via OIDC, at the cost of delaying another major program by a week. After lunch you partake in a workshop with senior stakeholders across the bank to see if you want to commit to offering a secondary platform, catering to more regulated use cases, this has the added complexity of a buy vs build discussion, where you need to explain the exact difference and up and downsides of both technical options. The rest of your afternoon you spend by debriefing the workshop with your heads of product, design and tech to try and decide if this is the next big thing you want to focus on…

The Data Analytics Platform team is a team of 48 people that has the mission to make Data Analytics available and accessible to 50% of all people who work at ING worldwide. We do this by combining open-source technologies with our own custom implementations to create the fastest, most innovative and secure Analytics Platform. You’ll be part of a cross functional team, with engineers, product managers, UXers and more.  We work in a fun and creative environment, and we’re dedicated to bringing out the best in both - each other and our projects.

• You’ll work with a wide variety of programs that are built on top of DAP, some having business cases of hundreds of millions of euros, across all the different domains a bank is active in

• Work with the tech teams and business side of DAP across multiple countries

• Thrive in a team where knowledge sharing and wanting to be the best in your field are key

• You’ll report to the Global Lead for Analytics Engineering, part of the Banking Technology Platform of ING and functionally to the Global Lead for Analytics Products of ING Analytics

Do you recognize yourself in this profile? 

• Experience with complex senior stakeholder management

• Experience working as a (Chief) Product Owner in a software development environment, steering multiple teams

• Deep technical knowledge of analytics tooling

• Live and breathe product and design thinking in how you approach your product

• Experience in supporting/rolling out complex software

• Excellent written and spoken skill in the English language

• Experience in writing reports for C-level 

• You are comfortable working in an international context, within virtual teams and can interact easily with international stakeholders
