IT Chapterlead in Amsterdam

Beschrijving

ING Bank NL is looking for a passionate and inspiring IT Team lead (within ING we use the title Chapter Lead), with a solid software development background and hands on mentality.

NL Digital Channels IT Area in Amsterdam is a modern and vibrant place for every techie. Software development is fully shifted-left, based on a new tech stack where Java code is deployed with Azure DevOps towards our OpenShift powered cloud.

We are:

ING Bank’s Insurance Tribe is one of the most exciting places to be in Retailing Bank. We took agile to the next level, we use Discovery and Delivery to get our things done: When one part of the team is busy getting stories ready to create the most value for the customer, the other part of the team is the gatekeeper of the quality making sure we ship frequently and in high quality. We are born international: we serve Netherlands and Belgium with our products and journey, and we have a remotely spread team across the World.

The stage for your work couldn’t be bigger than this!

Our Stack:

We believe that the base of everything is the Core Knowledge in Java (8 and 11), we have a Spring Boot-based framework to power our backend, and our resilient client is based on Twitter’s Finagle. We use Cassandra as a data store, and we deploy using Kubernetes over OpenShift.  Our frontend solution is fully based on web components, and we implement it using LitElement, we believe in open source and you can see our white label web library here:

The role of IT Chapter Lead has two very important aspects:
You will fulfil an important IT role as senior software engineer, in a small, dynamic DevOps team. 50% of your time you will develop and test digital flows on our mobile banking apps used by millions of Dutch customers. For the other 50% of your working week, you will be responsible for coaching, mentoring and motivating IT experts in your chapter, which will consist of 8 till 12 software engineers on average.

You are an inspiring technical lead within your Chapter and/or squads, by stimulating innovation, coaching on the agile way of work, initiate knowledge sharing activities or improvements within the IT Area of NL Digital Channels.

  • Inspiring, full of energy and passionate
  • Focused on working together, facilitating others within the tribe to be successful

Our backend stack sounds like Java, Spring Boot, Maven, Azure DevOps, Kafka, Cassandra, Oracle. On the front-end side, we are into Lit HTML/ Webcomponents, NPM.
  • Experience and thorough understanding of (test) automation (with for example Cucumber), continuous delivery, deployment tools and pipelines. We work with Azure DevOps, Helm, Kubernetes on OpenShift, Docker (Compose).
  • We have embraced full shift-left approach to software development, so you are expected to refine, code, test and deploy your own work to immutable containers on our cloud environments.
  • Lead development experience is a pre.
  • An itch and self-motivation for solving technical and functional challenges.
  • Great analytical skills and conceptual / architectural understanding, ability to quickly understand new technical concepts that are outside of your comfort zone.
