An enthusiastic, versatile, but above all very experienced MS SQL database administrator.

This is what you are going to do

As an MS SQL database administrator you contribute to the management of the MS SQL environments. Your duties include:

• Operational management of the MS SQL environments
• Operational management of the MS SQL databases
• Migration to Always-On
• Patching of the MS SQL stack
• Upgrade of MS SQL to higher versions
• Sharing knowledge with, and training of less experienced colleagues

Your work environment 

You will work in the chapter/squad DBMS. This chapter/squad consists of 8 members, and is divided over 2 locations, namely Amsterdam and Leeuwarden. The chapter/squad is responsible for the 24x7 execution of technical and operational management of Db2 Linux and Oracle within ING Netherlands. As a result of the recent migration of applications from the mainframe to Windows with MS SQL, MS SQL has also become part of our responsibilities.

You are a skilled and very experienced MS SQL database administrator. You are substantively strong and you are focused on achieving the best and concrete results in your work. Better than anyone you understand the wishes and needs of your (internal) IT Customers. Also you are a real team player. The complex and versatile 7 x 24 operational working environment requires you to be able to switch quickly. You are able to quickly recognize where to act. You are also able to coach colleagues and give constructive feedback.

Must haves:

• At least Bachelor/Master level of education
• At least 8 years of relevant work experience in a complex IT environment
• Knowledge of, and experience with Agile/Scrum
• DevOps skills

• Expert in managing MS SQL environments
• Knowledge of, and experience with SSIS / SSAS
• Knowledge of, and experience with MS SQL Always On
• Knowledge of, and experience with MS SQL Monitoring
• Knowledge of, and experience with MS SQL Backup and recovery
• Knowledge of, and experience with LCM for MS SQL stacks
• Knowledge of, and experience with continuous delivery tools like GIT, TFS, and Azure pipeline
• Knowledge of, and experience with automation using PowerShell
• Knowledge of, and experience with performance tuning and performance tools (e.g. sp_blitz)
