Senior Product Owner Front End as a Service in Amsterdam

We are looking for a Senior Product Owner with a drive to enable ING Engineers globally to speed up their software delivery and create state-of-the-art differentiating business solutions. Touchpoint Platform is part-of ING’s strategy to become one truly global bank and is a key success factor on our path to become a financial services platform that extends beyond banking. Through our platform, we provide a scalable foundation for digital channels and business solutions and position ING successfully in the new banking ecosystem.

One of the core products of the platform are the Unified Design System, One CMS and the SDKs for Web and Mobile. They offer a standard way to develop, deploy and operate web and mobile applications on the Touchpoint platform, taking away as much heavy-lifting as possible so engineers can focus on delivering business features. The product consists of multiple components or sub-products like our Configurable App Framework, Enhanced Webview, Security SDK, Flex Page, UI component libraries, and Front End Asset Management. These are developed and maintained by the different squads in the One Experience product area. The ambition is to extend the product further with features like scaffolding wizards, integration with our Global Engineering and Infra platforms (private/public cloud), in order to create the most seamless journey to be used by thousands of engineers within ING to rapidly design, develop, deploy and operate new applications and components for their business solutions.

The “Front End as a Service” product is part of the One Experience product area within Touchpoint Tribe of ING Tech. The squads (currently 6 to 7) that work on this product are located in Amsterdam, Manila and Bucharest, and consist of Product Managers, Designers, Web and Mobile engineers and Ops engineers.

What are you going to do?

• You take the lead to create a vision and strategy on standardising the development of front end applications and components within ING, and you translate the vision in a roadmap

• You own the end-2-end engineering journey and will align with Next Gen Tech as primary stakeholder

• You align with other stakeholders, like IT and Engineering leads in the different countries to gather their feedback and needs, by organising user panels, demo sessions and webinars

• You discover potential new features and opportunities, write business cases and get support in the organisation to develop these

• You provide vision and direction to development teams, removing impediments and ensuring work focuses on maximising consumer value

• You lead the product planning process, creating realistic release plans and managing stakeholder expectations for the delivery of new features

• You guide and coach the product owners and DevOps squads for your product

• You are on top of all the market developments, and you share relevant insights and developments with area members and other colleagues inside or outside the Tribe

• You report functionally to the Product Lead of One Experience within Touchpoint, and hierarchically to the Chapter Lead

• You have experience with technical (IT) developments and digitisation

• You have experience and/or affinity with the development and operation of modern front ends both for web and mobile

• You have achieved results in delivery in an agile working environment

• You have a strong organisational sensitivity; ability to understand and take into account the underlying issues, opportunities and dynamics of an organisation

• You are able to take responsibility, steer strategy and realisations based on facts and data

• You will strengthen the ‘ING way of working’ while promoting the Orange Code as a role model

• You are pro-actively asking for feedback and don’t hesitate to give feedback to others

• You are fluent in English both in writing and speech

• You have a bachelor’s degree or higher
