Frontend Engineer in Amsterdam

ING is looking for an experienced front-end engineer who will build the foundation of our web channels to offer the best user experience for our business customers. We are looking for an engineer with modern day engineering skills and competences like an eye for innovation, creativity, attention to details and communication.

We are

ING Digital Business Banking squads. We are responsible for the development of the web features for offering the best in-class digital experience to our business customers. Within Digital Business Banking, squad BusinessLions is responsible for migrating customers to our OneWeb banking platform and creating fit for purpose journeys for all business segment. Based on client feedback and data we continuously seek to improve the platform experience in close collaboration with other feature teams. We are empowering our business customers to stay a step ahead by enabling them to make use of the OneWeb banking platform. We build our components with JavaScript and lit-HTML.

You are

A highly motivated engineer who likes to work in a multidisciplinary team of engineers and business colleagues. Next to your work in the squad, you also like to contribute to the mastery of other engineers and improve the way of work within ING.

You are a proficient front-end engineer who has experience with Azure and NPM. You have knowledge of, and/or experience with, the latest JavaScript versions and Web Components concepts and technology with lit-HTML and litElement. You have experience with applying (front-end) design patterns and architecture.

You have great analytical skills and conceptual understanding. You are able to quickly understand new technical concepts and technology and you have a strong interest in, and vision of, the latest trends in software development and technology. You have experience with giving presentations and workshops, and in general have strong communication skills that enable you to explain complex technical concepts to non-techies. In addition it’s in your nature to challenge existing concepts and ideas in order to develop faster or to improve the customer experience. Your English in speaking and writing is fluent and you are a team player who likes to join the social events of the squad and ING organization.

What is expected of you:

• You are an experienced frontend engineer and a hardcore JavaScript developer with more than 7 years of experience in front-end development
• You have experience with the latest versions of JavaScript (ES6/ESNext), HTML, CSS and NPM
• You have a clear vision on front-end technology and micro-front-ends and you have solid knowledge and understanding of web component based development (Polymer, lit-element is a bonus.)
• You are able to discuss with your stakeholders and product owner about features and stories and can translate these into software with real business value
• Experience and thorough understanding of continuous integration and delivery
• You understand the basic principles of UX and RESTful API design.
• You believe that the easiest way to ensure software quality is by having proper tests. You have used at least a few of the test libraries/tools (Jasmine, Karma, Selenium etc.)
• You appreciate the importance of security and accessibility and always build your applications with this in mind
• You are enthusiastic about working in Agile setup
• You have experience in refining customer journeys with business into IT stories
• You are a strong team player, you love to share knowledge and you are interested in other people’s work
• You are outgoing and love to connect with other people outside your squad and working together with them to get things done
