Ops Engineer in Amsterdam

We are looking for a motivated, self-managed Senior IT Ops Engineer with strong Infra expertise and a drive for continuous improvement, to strengthen the credit cards landscape and quality of services offered to our end customers.

Our solution has a front-end Web application, Java API’s, Oracle database, and moving towards containerized infrastructure.

Your work environment

As an Ops Engineer you are part of a squad of highly skilled engineers within the Cards area. The Ops Engineer ensures the operational stability, integrity and availability across the entire end-to-end application chain together with the squad. With the help of the Agile methodologies, you will support ING in delivering and maintaining quality products to our customers.   

Your role and key responsibilities

The work environment for the Senior DevOps engineer is focused around an Agile way of working; dynamic environment with lots of change and highly available applications that deliver services towards the customers. You will be able to technically guide other engineers to deliver the priorities set by the product owner.

Within ING, risk management is a very important part of the work, as reporting needs to be done to multiple (internal and external) customers. The Ops Engineer understands the need for these actions, and can take a leading role in performing and improving the risk journeys for the department

An Ops Engineer actively monitors, manages, tests, deploys and operates the application noting the detailed technical behavior and performance across all aspects of the application to proactively identify and prevent operational problems. He/she continuously improves the automation of deployment with TFS and Ansible and operations tools and activities.

As an engineer you are enthusiastic about acquiring and transferring knowledge to others. For this function we look for an engineer that can take a leading role in deciding the best solution for ING.

As an Engineer you will need to:

• Have at least 5-year experience in a role as Network Administrator, System Administrator, Ops engineer with hands-on Ansible knowledge
• Have strong problem-solving skills to structure and improve complex situations
• Have good knowledge of enterprise level networking (TCP/IP, VPNs, SFTP, Proxy, Firewalls)
• Be experienced with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana and ELK but also able to write scripts (bash/shell)
• Have knowledge of Continuous Integration and Delivery tools like: Azure DevOps, GIT and Ansible
• Have experience with Linux, Oracle and Middleware like Tomcat
• Have experience with Cloud platforms and architecture like Microsoft Azure
• Be experienced in Agile and Continuous Delivery practices
• Have solid Risk, compliance, ICT Security awareness
• Be a strong team player and have good social and communication skills
• Be pro-active and assertive
• Have a learning attitude. Not only to master new technologies but also on the interpersonal level. You are proven to be able to ask and give feedback
• Be able to work under pressure and willing to be on stand-by outside office hours
• Have experience working in multicultural /diverse teams
