We are looking for a strong IT Area Lead for our Insurance and Consumer Loans Area in DBNL Products domain.

Insurance and Consumer Loans is one of the 4 IT areas in the domain, each lead by an IT Area Lead, and working with the IT Lead Products. We design, build and maintain the full life cycle of products we offer as a bank to millions of customers. Think about Investments, Current and Savings accounts, Consumer Loans and Insurances. An IT Area within Products offer a unique possibility the manage the full end-to-end journey of a Product!

We are looking for an IT Area Lead for our Insurance and Consumer Loans, with talent and enthusiasm, to lead the way in our journey towards excellence for our Insurance and Consumer Loan business domains. The IT Area Lead will be contributing to define and implement the IT strategy for his/her own IT Area in line with the bank’s IT strategy. He/she will be mainly managing and coordinating ING Tech functions will be responsible for enhancement, stability, maturity, security, risk, availability and operations of the platforms and applications.

In terms of technology, the IT area is pretty homogeneous. For Insurance we deliver a cross border insurance platform with integrations to our backend systems and partners and all frontend for our channels (frontend in LIT HTML, api’s in Java running on Openshift). For Consumer loans on top of backend API’s and frontends we have workflows (where manual intervention in assisted channels is needed) with Pega.

The IT area has a good balanced set of engineers and is currently in the middle of improving & standardizing the end-to-end delivery process, whilst delivering for multiple interesting use-cases for the Products domain and remaining a safe & compliant bank.

The team

IT Area comprise around 100 engineers working across the Netherlands, ING’s Tech Hubs in Manilla and with our strategic partners in India. New IT Area Lead will be responsible for creating a balanced team of internals/externals with a good Dreyfus maturity distribution.

Roles and responsibilities

A successful IT Area Lead

  • Ensures proper implementation of Product thinking and Team topologies across his/her respective IT Area
  • Creates an awesome atmosphere in which everyone feels appreciated and heard, and where everyone enjoys their work
  • Uses his/her skills to attract and retain the best engineers and create the best culture in Agile way of working
  • Values engineering craftsmanship and develops craftsmanship of the employees working in his/her respective area. Provides high-level strategic guidance to the chapter leads
  • Keeps IT budget related to the area in control
  • Encourages his/her chapters to invest in innovation
  • Works closely with Product Area Lead/Tribe Lead on the delivery of the squads
