ING is looking for a passionate and inspiring IT Chapter Lead for the Collections & Generics (C&G) department with extensive experience in the Data Engineering field.

This is what you are going to do

The function of IT Chapter Lead is twofold:

First of all, as a Senior Data Engineer you contribute to the maintenance within the Datawarehouse Collections in an IBM platform environment (Oracle, DataStage, Cognos). Your duties include:

  • Designing and maintaining the Datawarehouse
  • Resolving incidents in batch processes
  • Performance tuning of SQL
  • Continuous Delivery and Continuous Deployment in Azure DevOps
  • Creating reports and dashboards in Cognos
  • You have direct contact with the users to convert complex business requirements into IT solutions
  • You devise ways to make solutions scalable & future fit
  • Sharing knowledge with and training less experienced colleagues

In addition to substantive IT engineering tasks, you act as a coach of a Chapter (team) of engineering colleagues. You are responsible for all HR aspects associated with stimulating, motivating, and coaching the experts in your Chapter. The chapter consists of 6 Data Engineering specialists. As a Chapter Lead, you are responsible for the knowledge development of your employees within the ING Way-of-Work.

Your work environment

Your own Data Engineering Chapter consists of fellow engineers all working in the DISCO squad. Together with your Chapter, you guarantee the required Data Engineering knowledge within the IT Area. You do this by jointly investing in knowledge of the Data Engineering field, for example by:

  • Organize knowledge and demo sessions
  • Attend relevant and/or interesting conferences in your field together with the Chapter
  • Working together with your Chapter on relevant IT issues within the bank (with the aim of knowledge development)

The DevOps squads within ING Bank use the Scrum methodology and a far-reaching Agile Way-of-Work. You will work in the Disco squad. This squad consists of 6 members and is based in Amsterdam. The squad also includes several offshore engineers in India. The chapter/squad is responsible for the batch processes within the departments and ensures that the data is always up to date. You are also involved in optimizing the queries, and you create reports and dashboards to show the information to the business in a structured way.

  • Extensive knowledge of, and experience with Oracle 12/18/19 (DWH features on Exadata)
  • Extensive knowledge of, and experience with IBM Datastage (ETL)
  • Extensive knowledge of, and experience with IBM Analytics (Cognos)
  • Extensive knowledge of, and experience with Scheduling Tool zoals UAC
  • Knowledge of, and experience with continues delivery tools like GIT, TFS, and Azure pipeline
  • Experience in drawing up complex business requirements from stakeholders and converting them into IT solutions

Additional information

  • Job location is primarily Amsterdam. However, squad DISCO also serves business squads in Leeuwarden, so you are occasionally present in Leeuwarden for consultations and contact moments with your stakeholders who work there.
  • Contract is based on 36-40 hours per week
