Employee Tech Services, part of Corporate Technology in Group Services, is looking for a passionate and inspiring IT Area Lead with a clear focus on the Employee Journey and a can-do mentality.
The primary focus of the Area Employee Tech Services is to find synergies in the services we deliver as part of the Employee Journey within ING. We work closely with our business partners, (Global) HR, Corporate Real Estate & Facility Management and Marketing & Communications to continuously improve the Employee Journey (like Joining & Leaving, Learning & Growing and Doing your Job). With Global HR, we work in a Tribe setup; you will be part of the Tribe leadership team, where you will define the IT direction and roadmap for the Tribe.
You are responsible for multiple teams working on various applications and services, mainly SaaS Solutions (like Workday, Planon, etc.) with teams based in the Netherlands, the UK, Poland and India. You report to the IT Lead for Corporate Technology and are part of the Core MT with your IT Area Lead colleagues. You will have 7 team managers (in ING, we call them Chapter Leads) reporting to you, with a total span of control of approx. 100 FTE.
Roles and responsibilities
For a large part of your time, you will work closely with the different business partners on the Employee Journey, where you will define the IT direction based on ING strategy. You are responsible for the IT continuity and availability of the services we deliver for our business partners, as well as for onboarding new solutions and making sure they comply with our security standards. There is a strong focus on IT Risk as our business partners deal with personal and sensitive data, and we need to keep that data safe. You act as a role model towards the Chapter Leads and engineers regarding security and compliance.
Next, you play an active role in sizeable global rollout programs, for example, the global rollout of Workday, by which we standardise our HR processes globally and our IT landscape. You are expected to safeguard these programs, ensuring we deliver on what we promised. You are also responsible for managing the Euro’s and FTE’s budget.

You can handle end-to-end complex IT situations and deal with various types of customers;
You are an engineer by education and/or work experience;
You have a client-centric mindset, and you can build meaningful relationships with your business partners;
You can steer and empower teams of skilled IT engineers responsible for high-criticality applications.
You have > 5-year experience in portfolio management/change management;
Excellent strategic management/decision taking-skills;
Empowering people management style and passionate about growing and developing technical talent;
A mindset of openness and willingness to try new ways of working;
Predictable delivery of our software by squads in your area and live up to our promises concerning quality, timelines and features;
Reliable, compliant and secure operation of IT assets in your area.
