Who we are

Data Management is one of the foundation topics of ‘making the difference’ to become one digital bank. The Chief Data Management Office (CDMO) is aiming to take ING's data management capabilities to the next level by further enhancing and implementing our data management strategy that stipulates how we want to govern data throughout the bank.

Key components for bringing all of the bank’s data under governance are:

•           Implement a uniform data governance throughout ING

•           Uniformly measure the quality of data

•           Use of uniform policies and processes around data
 

Job description

As a Chapter Lead you have a dual role. You build a strong-identity team that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals, actively perform the people management of your chapter members and further develop and safeguard their knowledge and craftsmanship, in this instance for Data Governance. On the other hand you are spending ~50% of your time working together with your team as a contributor on the delivery of the data governance capability as well. As a Chapter Lead you have the complete overview and insight on the capabilities, expertise and experience of your chapter members and you will be responsible to decide on allocation of your chapter members capacity for the global backlog delivery demand coming from the Pillar Lead. The Chapter Lead reports hierarchically to the CDO BSF.

Key Responsibilities

  • Together with the CDO BSF develop a view on the future of the data governance capability craftsmanship and drive continues development of your chapter members
  • Working closely together with the other Chapter Leads to discuss and align on required capabilities and capacity across chapters for delivery
  • Together with the CDO BSF, Pillar Lead and other People Leads, decide on the allocation of capacity of your chapter members for the delivery of the global priorities
  • Drive and foster a culture of inclusive cross-border (-and chapter) collaboration in support of the entire CDO network
  • Responsible with your chapter members to support adequate risk management/internal control of the CDMO function
  • Steer and develop your chapter members to meet both their career goals and the organisation’s goals, driving engagement and results via inspiring leadership. Act as an expert on the craftmanship development needs for Data Governance
  • Manage and report on the performance of a substantial, diverse team; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports or project / account team members and hold them accountable for achieving these
  • Spend ~50% of your time working with your colleagues on the (global) backlog deliveries
  • Attract and retain the best talents, leading interviews when needed for your chapter

Requirements

  • Masters degree
  • Substantial work experience together with comprehensive job related experience in own area of expertise to fully competent level at minimum (over ~6 years to 10 years)
  • Deep content knowledge on data governance
  • Pré is having working experience in managerial roles in an international environment
  • Proven experience in driving and developing craftsmanship
  • Ability to lead in a (partially) virtual, complex international landscape with a proven track record of maintaining high standards across multiple geographies and cultures, managing different stakeholders
  • Personal leadership in building and inspiring inclusive high performing teams, coaching people to grow whilst being interpersonal savvy
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Mastery of the English language (written and in speech)
