Platform Architect Touchpoint in Amsterdam

ING is looking for a Platform Architect Touchpoint in our Banking Technology Platform (BTP) tribe with knowledge of (Touchpoint) platform architectures, Customer Identity and Access Management, Customer Mandates and Customer Data in general. Preferably through experience in a large and internationally oriented company.

ING has thousands of engineers across the globe. The purpose of the BTP department is to make their lives easier, as well as to get to a level of interoperability that makes reuse of components the standard. The platform called Touchpoint realizes this. Touchpoint not only brings supply and demand together in one marketplace but also allows for innovative business solutions to be developed at a global scale.

The Customer Identity and Access Management part of the platform, called One Gate, takes care of the authentication of customers in the web and mobile applications of ING. Next to that, the One Gate takes care of approval workflows for all services requested by the customers which is based on the customer data, permissions and mandates managed in the central customer data solution (One PAM).

As a Platform Architect:

• Drive the One Gate architecture in our Banking Technology Platform tribe, including integration points within BTP as with others (e.g. infrastructure and engineering tribe).

• Are expected to continuously make trade-offs between target state and existing solutions, being reflected in roadmaps you create. You’re seen as the expert and trusted advisor overseeing the existing and total future state of the bank including the risk, security, and non-function requirements.

• Describe and advocate architecture for reliability, performance, and scalable solutions.

• Ensure that the architecture is implemented according to plan, minimizing technical/tactical debt. Escalates to management if required.

• Provide guidance to Engineers, Product Owners, chapter leads and Squads of (consumers of) the platform

• Describe design patterns in Cookbooks together with the engineering leads.

• Have a Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent practical experience

• Have 5+ years’ experience with platform architectures with demonstrated industry leadership in the fields of architecture and technology platforms.

• You align with the architecture community on the target architectures, and have the designs endorsed by Architecture Boards and chief architects.

• You master Modularization, componentization, and reusability principles.

• You know how application security and integration standards and patterns are applied.

• You have experience with Customer data models

• You have an understanding of CI / CD Pipelines and application deployment models.

• You look for ways to simplify an increasingly complex user experience.

• Having a Self-service mindset and experience in Platform as a Service model.

• You have an understanding of cloud native architectures.

• Can work independently, relying on the network of colleagues that you create around you, while contributing to the overall objectives.

• Have communication skills, on the level of the CIO’s of the business lines and the CIO’s of the countries and the Chief Architects of the bank.

• You will work with people in or from many countries in Europe and beyond, and therefore you need to be fluent in English.

• You will be stationed in Amsterdam and are willing to travel.

The Banking Technology Platform (BTP) architecture team is functionally part of ING’s Enterprise Architecture department with architects working closely together worldwide. The group of architects of about 12 people within BTP has the mission to develop and execute the architecture and advice on the strategy of the BTP tribe to position adequate IT capabilities for changing business needs and moving towards a globally scalable and data driven banking platform.
