As Front-end Software Engineer you are going to be part of a Scrum team that works on expanding and improving the daily life of our Plaza sellers, suppliers and employees. By offering all of them the best tools to maintain the shop, their assortment or product information, you will have a huge impact on the daily life of tens of thousands of users! And by doing so, you’re helping out creating the best store for the bol.com customers!

Your role

• Developing clean and high-performance code for tens of thousands of users
• Improving performance of our ‘retail tooling’ and increasing scalability
• Coaching, inspiring and engaging team members, discussion partner for business units
• Have direct contact with your users, figuring out their needs and wishes
• Spotting opportunities, translating these into compelling proof of concepts

Who you are

You are an ambitious and pragmatic Front-end Software Engineer. You are comfortable coding for a range of browsers – including touch devices. Experience with dependency management (Like RequireJS / Commonjs or comparable) is an asset, as is a background in front-end frameworks and popular libraries. Naturally, you can see things from the clients’ perspective and you have some comprehension of the do’s and don’ts when it comes to User Experience.

Must haves

• Experience in JavaScript frameworks (e.g. Angular And ES6)
• Demonstrable multi-device front-end development experience with desktop and touch devices
• Capable of delivering clean, modular code
• Communicative skills; you can convey complex ideas to both peers and non-IT’ers
• Coaching qualities; you can teach new team members the ropes
• Solid understanding of CSS, and its do’s and don’ts and a bullet-proof understanding of HTML
