Excited to grow your career?
ING is looking for a IT Chapter Lead in Amsterdam in the Area of International Payments.
Think Forward! Banking has changed dramatically over the past years. With ING’s Think Forward Strategy we are creating a differentiating customer experience. Customer communication and technology are key underlying pillars to that strategy; we are becoming a tech company with a banking license as our CEO Ralph Hamers likes to say.
Within the area of International Payments you are part of an international team of passionate and talented DevOps Engineers. You will be working with Wholesale Banking Tech in the Tribe Payments. This Tribe manages processing of all payments for ING, world-wide and enables both the customers and our employees to work in an secure and easy way.
We are a key area within the ING Unite program, making sure our Belgian and Dutch customers have access to the same customer journeys in having their payments processed by ING, both retail and wholesale customers. To make this possible we build on stacks that consist of Java API’s, TIBCO services and JavaScript Front-Ends. Architecture wise we are moving into a micro services world and away from TIBCO.
Your job
As a chapter lead, you are responsible for managing and inspiring a chapter of 8-12 Dev engineers, party in Amsterdam, party with one of our partners in India. Your main task is to enable your engineers to grow their mastery and improve themselves every day, as an individual as well as a team. For the main part of your time you are a lead engineer that sets the example, shares knowledge, drives innovation, voices opinions and deliver as a member of a squad.
As a DevOps engineer you will be working in a squad of about 7 engineers and customer journey experts. Each squad has its own purpose, works autonomous and delivers value for our customers.
What you build is what you operate! You will see your own code working in production and as a team will solve any issues that occur. Your activities start at analysis and end at operations. As such you are a true DevOps engineer!
Current topics for the Stack chapters are:
• Linux
• Ansible tower
• openShift
• Continous Delivery, Deployment and Integration
• Operational control
• Tibco (nice to have)
• ING’s Touchpoint architecture
The Services chapters deal with subjects like:
• Java REST API
• Tibco services
• Kafka
• Jenkins
• Continuous Delivery, Deployment and Integration
In addition you are also part of the leadership team of our IT Area. Together with the IT Area Lead and other Chapter Leads we develop our vision and execute our strategy to inspire our engineers to grow and drive technological innovation. Managing your chapter means actively working on the development of your engineers through continuous on-the-job coaching, 1:1 conversations, creating a development plan and monitoring it together. Finding the true purpose of your engineers and enabling them to grow in what they are.
Your work environment
ING works in multi-disciplinary teams based on Agile and DevOps principles. Scrum is our way of work, but if the situation requires it we are open to other ways (e.g. Kanban) as long as it is agile. (Don’t do agile, be agile)
ING adopted the ‘Spotify’ model which means that you are part of a matrix organization. You work in your squad but are also part of a chapter, an expertise focused group that shares knowledge and creates and governs standards. In addition there are guilds and communities where you can contribute and learn.
