Java Software Engineer Financial Markets in Amsterdam

ING is looking for a Java Developer with passion for technology. Someone that is solution-focused and able to contribute on the design, development, test automation and hardening (security, stability, deployment) of our in-house-developed pricing & risk components. The ING Pricing Architecture (IPA) platform consisting of 6 components that will enable the real-time and batch calculations of financial risk metrics and simulations.
This platform is part of the heart of the IT landscape for our global dealing rooms (Asia, Europe, Americas), with 7-9 scrum teams cooperating towards one Financial Markets IT landscape from 3 locations, Amsterdam, Brussels, and Bucharest.

Based in Amsterdam, we expect you to be responsible and take ownership together with your colleagues in Amsterdam, Brussels and Bucharest. Be open, honest, communicate clearly and be eager to learn.

Your key competencies are:
o Driven to understand (international) colleagues of your team, focused on delivering working software together.
o Eagerness and understanding of the latest developments in the technical and financial services.
o Understanding of banking in general or willing to learn. You are able to interact with stakeholders and product owners about features and stories and to be able to turn these into software solutions with real business added value.
o Curiosity to understand Java SE fundamentals (e.g. serialization, threading, transactions, functional programming benefits) even when using Spring, Springboot
o Experienced in Continuous Integration & Continuous Delivery tooling/practices

As a Java Software Engineer you will be working on:
o The latest technologies with a strong focus on performance, large data sets and towards event-driven architecture.
o Distributed systems built around Apache technologies (a.o. Apache Ignite, GridGain)
o Java 8, including Functional programming
o SQL Oracle
o Linux, containerization, docker, kubernetes
o Design and develop automated unit, integration and regression tests.
o Create front-end components with Angular.js
o Through our Agile/Scrum process: interpret business requirements with the Product Owner and Feature Engineer during the refinement session, break down the tasks, estimate the Story Points to develop, test and harden this feature with your colleagues, and deliver and support it on the production environment to our global users. You will have direct interaction with Traders and Risk Managers.

Requirements
o A University degree in Computer Science, Cybernetics, Software Engineering, Financial Engineering or equivalent
o 5+ years of software engineering, Java development experience (Back-end)
o Experience in developing automated testing TDD
o Familiarity with tools like Confluence, JIRA, Fortify, Git, Jenkins, Maven
o Experience with SQL (Oracle)
o Experience with Front-End development Frameworks/tools is a plus asset
o Experience with Agile Scrum
o Good communication skills in English
o Strong analytical skills, proactivity and ability to work in cross-border international teams
