Application Design & Development Specialist - Amstelveen

At a glance

In the SmartStream® Scrum team we are looking for a development engineer with a well developed accounting background. 

SmartStream® is an integrated enterprise financial management suite. This includes a General Ledger, and modules for Purchasing, Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivables, Fixed Assets, and Reporting. ABN Amro uses it for the majority of its international branches and subsidiaries. It is an off-the-shelf application for accounting and finance purposes, and is maintained by the team mainly by means of configuration of pre-defined parameters. You will be working together with a dedicated Scrum team and the responsible Product Owner, Business Developer and day-to-day operators responsible for the live production system from requirement gathering all through to operational implementation of the requirements. That does entail involvement in design, development and testing of the solutions. The nature of the changes to be implemented can be originating for bugs found in the day-to-day operations and need to be fixed, to big programmes and initiatives in which the SmartStream application plays a role, and needs to do its part so that the overall initiative can go live successfully.

Your job

As a Development Engineer for this team, you are highly aware of accounting standards, love to know everything about it, and have good understanding of Accounting ERP systems. You must be willing to learn the ins and outs of the SmartStream application, so that you can think along with the Product Owner, Business Developer and actual Business (which are mostly the finance departments of our international branches) and advise them on efficient and effective solutions available in the application meeting their requirements. It will be a journey of exploring, learning and further improving your knowledge and that of the team, so that implementations go increasingly efficient and faster with good quality results. 

Your working environment

You will be working mainly in one of our Amstelveen offices, located at the Groenelaan. The team is part of the CIO Private Banking and Corporate & Intitutional Banking department, in the cluster of Base Set Up & Data. The team you will be working in consists of 7 other people, of different backgrounds and organisational responsibilities. The team is working closely together with relevant teams in the Core Banking area that have a lot to do with finance and accounting, and data relevant to that. It is an environment with a lot of cultural differences, and a significant international angle. At times you will travel abroad with few of your team members to visit the local businesses for a short period of time.

Your profile

- Experience in an accounting department (3+ years) / Accounting knowledge is a must have
- Accounting ERP system experience is a must, experience in Infor SmartStream is a plus
- Interested in tech and IT

- You have good communication and stakeholder management skills
- Professional working proficiency in English is a must
- You must be willing and able to occassionally travel for short periods of time (days)
- An agile Mindset and experience in SCRUM way of working is a plus
- Experience in SQL is a plus
