Product Owner / Feature Engineer Touchpoint Platform OnePAM/Postman

We are looking for a Product Owner with a drive to create global scalable notification platform within the ING Touchpoint Platform.

Touchpoint Platform is part of ING’s “Think Forward” strategy to become a truly global bank, and is a key success factor for achieving a financial services platform that extends beyond banking. Through our platform, we provide a scalable foundation for platform business models and contribute to ING’s successful position in the new banking ecosystem.

OnePAM is one of the five pillars of the Touch Point Platform and will bring the new ING bank a state of the art Single Global Master Data Management solution accessible via APIs. It will provide a uniform standardized Single Source of Truth for identifying, retrieving and maintaining parties, products, agreements and permissions data for ING. IBM Infosphere MDM combined with standardised APIs form the heart of OnePAM. OnePAM’s system of record, MDM, produces notifications for changes in the system of record. The Postman is a squad that takes those notifications and distributes them to all interested consumers.

This is what you will do

You will work within a multi-disciplinary Scrum squad of developers and ops-engineers, and coordinate across the organization with designers, security specialists, and other functional and technical areas. Within the team, you function as a Product Owner, taking responsibility for the priority and clarity of requirements as well as their development within the sprint. External to the team, you are the representative and so will maintain close relationships with the Product Area Lead, peers, users, security specialists, and other stakeholders.

The squad is located in Leeuwarden, the Dutch stakeholders are located in Amsterdam. The product owner that we are looking for will need to be physically in Leeuwarden and Amsterdam a few days a week. Because of the global scope of OnePAM traveling to other ING locations can be part of the assignment. Successful remote collaboration skills are needed.

You will:

  • Drive your squad as the Product Owner by providing the purpose, context, priorities, and direction to the team.
  • Partner with the Product Area Lead and peers (representatives of other squads) to create and maintain a product backlog that aligns with the overall product area roadmap to maximize the business value or ROI.
  • Develop requirements (written and diagrams as appropriate) throughout the product development in the form of Epics, Features and Stories. Facilitate refinement sessions to clarify and size requirements.
  • Facilitate the team’s delivery by coordinating sprint activities like planning sessions, retrospectives, and protecting the team and sprint against disruptions and impediments.
  • Create and lead the planning of product releases, including coordination with other interdependent teams and communication with stakeholders to set the expectation for delivery of new features. Play an active role in identifying, mitigating, and communicating impediments impacting successful completion of Release/Sprint Goals.
  • Build up and share knowledge of the domain, the users, and the roadmap for the product.

Who are you?

  • The ‘go to’ person for the team when it comes to clarity and domain information
  • Communicative, articulate, pro-active and easy to approach
  • A person that takes timely and informative decisions
  • A team player
Furthermore, you have:
  • 5 year(s) experience working as a Product Owner in a technology environment, preferably in a large matrix organization
  • Solid Agile experience
  • Familiarity with the following concepts: ‘Kafka’, ‘data lake’, ‘master data management’, ‘notifications’
  • Ability to coach the team in the business domain
  • Proven ability to define a set of requirements that pinpoint business challenges and identify technical and business changes required to address them
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely across technology and business teams
  • Experience supporting/rolling out software. Proactively validate with the users the added value and identify new opportunities, features and improvements
  • Willing to travel between Leeuwarden and Amsterdam

If you tick the bigger part of these boxes, then we are looking for you!

Furthermore, you adhere to the ING values and it is evident for you that your behavior is fully aligned with these values. You are also prepared to take the Banker's Oath, and able to travel to other ING offices in Europe a couple of times a year.
