Proficient DevOps engineer squad Atlas in Leeuwarden

We are looking for a motivated, self-managed Senior IT DevOps Engineer with a passion for Networks/infra and IT Risk & Security, to support the services for the ING’s Collections department. In your function you are responsible for the technical application management of the Collections NL applications, safeguarding their optimal performance and availability as well as their compliancy to ING’s IT risk framework, assuring the safety of ING’s data.

Your work environment

You will become part of a squad of highly skilled Platform engineers within the Collections area. Together with your squad you ensure the operational stability, integrity and availability across the entire end-to-end application chain. With the help of the Agile methodologies, you will support ING in delivering and maintaining quality products to our customers. Within the assignment you will have the opportunity to expand/broaden your knowledge of different technologies and software packages (e.g. Azure DevOps, Ansible, Prometheus, UAC, Docker).

Your role and key responsibilities

The work environment for the Senior DevOps engineer is focused around an Agile way of working; dynamic environment with lots of change and highly available applications that deliver services towards the customers. You will be able to technically guide other engineers to deliver the priorities set by the product owner.

Within ING, risk management is a very important part of the work, as reporting needs to be done to multiple (internal and external) customers. The Ops Engineer understands the need for these actions, and can take a leading role in performing and improving the risk journeys for the department. A DevOps Engineer actively monitors, manages, tests, deploys and operates the application noting the detailed technical behaviour and performance across all aspects of the application to proactively identify and prevent operational problems. He/she continuously improves the automation of deployment with Azure Devops and Ansible and operations tools and activities.

Also, you are enthusiastic about acquiring and transferring knowledge to others. For this function we look for an engineer that can take a leading role in deciding the best solution for ING.

What we are looking for

For this function we are looking for an engineer that can take a leading role in deciding the best solution direction for multiple IT topics. He or she needs to have good coding and analytical skills and feel a personal responsibility for delivering high quality results. Of course a 24x7 mind-set is default behaviour.

As an engineer you will need to:

• Have at least 5-years of experience in a role as (Dev)Ops engineering with hands-on Ansible knowledge
• Have strong problem-solving skills to structure and improve complex situations
• Have good knowledge of enterprise level networking (TCP/IP, VPNs, SFTP, Proxy, Firewalls)
• Be experienced with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana and ELK but also able to write scripts (bash/shell)
• Have knowledge of Continuous Integration and Delivery tools like: Azure DevOps, GIT and Ansible
• Have experience with Linux, Oracle and Middleware like Tomcat
• Have experience with Cloud platforms and architecture like Microsoft Azure
• Be experienced in Agile and Continuous Delivery practices
• Have solid Risk, compliance, ICT Security awareness
• Be a strong team player and have good social and communication skills
• Be pro-active and assertive
• Have a learning attitude. Not only to master new technologies but also on the interpersonal level. You are proven to be able to ask and give feedback
• Be able to work under pressure and willing to be on stand-by outside office hours
• Have experience working in multicultural /diverse teams (English is our primary language)

Additional information

• Contract is for 36-40 hours/week.
